Find your dream product & design job
Some wins for January:
-
Google is picking up nicely and has become my main traffic channel. I'm getting more and more clicks (loving their progress updates!). Some of the reasons are: I add new jobs daily on the site & google really likes more pages, almost every job is shared via google jobs, I experimented on big SEO content with keyword research (not a lot but qualitative ones) and google is picking it up too.
-
Reddit is my second traffic channel now, I have been gaining lots of karma, sharing jobs one by one and engaging in nice convos. Getting the hang of it!
-
Then, sharing jobs regularly on Twitter and Linkedin is working well for too.
It's all about consistent sharing, and being patient.
Next up: automating job sharing (to focus on more value-added work), need to up my game writing blog posts, and planning a product hunt to get good backlinks.
Let's gooo ๐ฅ
After a few months of working on a job board for non-tech in web3, I hit a few roadblocks:
-
Moved away from no-code and built a code version to improve SEO performances โ worked super well, my pages are mostly indexed and increased my click rate from 50 toโฆ 900 in 28 days!
-
web3 was and still is slowing down with hiring budgets dropping.
-
After an SEO audit from a professional, he shared how hard it was to grow in the space - even with insane work done on SEO.
-
On a personal note: I ignored it for a while but admitted to myself the lack of product founder fit. While I loved learning about web3 and observing the creative possibilities, I wasn't intrinsically motivated by the audience/space.
All of these adding up, and noticing that I still made great progress on the product and SEO (both topics I love working on and learning about), end of 2022 meant it was time for a change. The niche I chose for my job board was increasingly limiting, for me personally and market-wise.
I took 1 week off at Christmas to reflect on it all, and realign with my motivations. After a few days, I decided to expand my โnicheโ beyond web3 and share jobs across the creative tech industry. If you want to join a team building the next generation of creative tools (in gaming, video, 3D design apps, AI, or more). Then, this is your go-to place.
Why?
-
I am a creative geek, absolute fan of creative tech tools. I always wanted to join companies building tools like procreate, or canva. I could talk, write, share about this for hours: and thatโs a major advantage (alignement: check!)
-
We haven't seen new players in the creative job board scene for a while (since behance, dribble and a few others) and after a few keywords research, it has more potential than my original niche and sounds much more fun!
-
One struggle I spotted: Creative work is only seen as visual work. I went through tons of forums, and communities sharing their struggle to find creative work that matches their interests, without being designers/artists. My site will be an industry job board for creative tools/apps, rather than specifically visual creative jobs.
I revamped the site, copywriting, content, and jobs. I've been doubling down on SEO and getting some decent results. Entrepreneurship is all about resilience, adapting to challenges, and hopefully making the right choices. The hard work begins!
Would love to have your feedback/impressions.
(ps: I also saw this tweet and it resonated a lot ๐)

I am wondering on what pages you are actually ranking? The main page or the category pages. What did you do to actually rank for these pages? Backlinks, improve the content?
Or is the main bulk of SEO traffic coming from google jobs?
I'm trying to rank my own jobboard in the pharmaceutical industry as well and I am curious how others are solving this problem.

Pro tip: Add hastags on your twitter/linkedin postings for more reach/clicks.

Nice site
Two good news this week: one candidate shared he found a job in blockchain gaming thanks to Woody3 (I asked for his testimonial and shared it on the site), and I had an amazing conversation with a lead who wants to post jobs.
First revenue by end of July, who's with me? ๐
Side note - I'm amazed how people are willing to help when you're authentic as an indie/solo founder. I was very transparent to this lead about traffic/growth stage/being a solo maker and it weirdly created this spark of excitement. He wanted to support me even more, and shared many valuable insights!
Being small is a strength, let's be proud of it!

After +6 months of building a Web3 team as a recruiter for a crypto-gaming company, hiring non-tech talent was the hardest. I decided to build my own solution: Woody3.xyz, the only job board for non-tech roles in Web3.
I shipped my first version using no-code tools as part of the Women Make challenge: 30 days to build and launch! I loved the format and met talented women makers along the way ๐โโ๏ธ
My priority for the following months is to increase traffic, and then monetize. Let's do this!

Hello Mathilde, I just checked out Woody3.xyz and I love the design and usability. Well done! The navigation and general landing page feel are really good and I love how the jobs show a summary before leading people to the whole description. Keep it up!

Hey stutterbug, thank you so much for taking the time to check it out. I did put a lot of effort into the design and wanted users to feel good scrolling jobs by removing the clutter that you often see on job boards (too many jobs, too much information).
I have no experience in design, so your comment really is insightful and made my day. Thank you ๐

About
I initially built Woody to help creatives find jobs in web3, I noticed followers were mainly product & designers. I niched down to them, which happened to great & creative people to serve ๐
