WordBounty
WordBounty pays you a cash bounty for fixing the internet.
After I decided to move forward with the idea I spent some time validating the idea and building out an Airtable backend.
For me, this is the best way to think through functionality and data requirements.
This was also my repository to start contacting media clients.
While I was doing this I needed a resource for these future clients to come and find out more about the new product. I grabbed the domain, WordBounty.com, created a logo and knocked up a Carrd page and set up an email client to capture leads.
It was time to see who else thought this was a good idea. So I shared it across Twitter, Reddit and a few other places and the sign ups started rolling in.
WordBounty, Hello World!
There's nothing that annoys me more than reading a website, especially a news article, and finding a bunch of mistakes.
For a long time, I've decided the nicest thing to do was to politely ping journalists on Twitter and offer them my corrections. Journalists and editors are usually super grateful. Pushing out news is tough work, and we're only human, so mistakes happen.
I always thought there could be a better way.
I decided I would see if there was value in what I was doing. So after an editor thanked me on Twitter for a correction, I decided this was the moment.
I set up a Buy Me A Coffee account and sent him the link. Oh, the chutzpah!
Then, to my surprise.. BOOOM!!! I got $10 in my account!
This could be a good idea! So WordBounty was born.
