Workplit
Time tracking for freelancers. Offline-first, no cloud.
I'm a freelance Flutter developer. For years I'd been logging hours in Toggl Track and every time I generated a report I'd think — this is literally a few thousand rows in a database that could live in my pocket.
So a couple of months ago I started building Workplit on the side. One hard constraint: no cloud, no account, nothing leaves the device. The whole app — clients, projects, date-ranged rates, tasks, time entries — sits in a local SQLite database. Reports come out as PDF or Excel.
The bit I'm most proud of is the Desktop Access feature. Tap one button in the app, get a PIN, open your laptop's browser, type the IP, log in with the PIN, and you get the full UI on a big screen with keyboard and mouse. Same data, no sync, no cloud — your phone stays the source of truth and serves an HTTP server on local Wi-Fi.
Now live on iOS and Android in 6 languages (EN, ES, DE, FR, IT, PT). Free tier covers 2 clients / 2 projects / 10 tasks / 100 entries per month — enough to try it for real with one client. Pro removes the limits and adds custom branding on PDFs (your logo + tax details) for €4.99/month or €39.99/year.
Stack: Flutter, Drift (SQLite), Riverpod, RevenueCat for IAPs, shelf for the embedded HTTP server. Website is a small PHP page on shared hosting. No analytics SDKs, no telemetry — I literally don't know how many people are using it beyond what the stores' aggregate dashboards show me.
This is week 1 since publishing. Happy to answer anything — the privacy decision, the freemium balance, the technical trade-offs of the desktop access feature, or anything else.
About
After years of logging freelance hours in cloud trackers, I wanted one that kept every byte on my phone. Built Workplit on the side as a solo Flutter dev — no accounts, no cloud, no SDKs. The tool I wanted to use myself.
