August 10, 2012 The Author's Guide to Drawing Maps

This is when the website really took off.

I created a landing page called "The Author's Guide to Drawing Maps" which curated 4 articles about drawing maps that I'd written.

The article was then shared on a number of community websites which helped to get traffic to the site.

In the guide's first weekend, the website received 2,171 unique pageviews. Which was massive compared to anything that had been done before.

You can learn more about this project in a case study on my personal site.

June 21, 2010 Site launched

The idea for the Worldbuilding School came in 2005 when I began to develop my main story world. However it wasn't until 2010 that I had enough technical skills to build and run my own WordPress site.

Up until that point I ran a blog on blogger (blogspot at the time) called "Original Worlds"

The Worldbuilding School was created because I wanted to learn about building websites and digital marketing. So chose to do it through a topic I'm interested in.

Also it serves as a central place where I can write about worldbuilding and share great resources from other people.

About

I love stories and this is a place for me to curate content and share articles about building imaginary worlds. The site also serves as a project to learn about building websites and digital marketing.
