After a long slog to get the core tech in place and wrapped in the normal trappings of a SaaS tool, launched a staging environment on AWS and sent it out to a couple friends.

Backend tech-stack is 100% Java therefore achieving our original goal of using as few languages as possible to aid in maintenance. Was fun to get back into Java after a few years away.

With the pandemic in full swing and usage up ~1200%, I've been talking to all of our vendors about reducing cost. Nearly everyone has been accommodating with the exception of the our logging service provider. Totally stonewalling us and even if we want to reduce our volume commitment dramatically our price would double because we'd be on the new pricing sheet. Current deal is apparently very legacy and can't be adjusted anymore even by the VP of sales.

There has to be a cheaper way to get logs off boxes and search 'em.
