Make Writing a Habit
We just received a $10 donation, less than one hour after we put the donation button on the website.
We have all the features of WriteNext (https://www.writenext.io/) free, but we have some server running costs. We have been funded all of that from our money in the last months, but that is not sustainable in the long term. We decided a few days ago to put a donation button on the website and have our happy users support us. Today we signed up on PayPal and put a link with details about how much we need for July to offer the service for free. We went for lunch and when we got back and checked the inbox, there was the email with the $10 donation.
That's how motivation builds.

Today we're on ProductHunt and we're looking to hear more feedback. We had great comments on Hacker News and hopefully, ProductHunt will help us with more insights. We're looking only for organic feedback and honest user reviews, thus we're not getting our friends to upvote the product.
Yesterday we launched WriteNext on Hacker News and got to the front page! Overall it resulted in 15,000 pageviews and over 1,200 new signups. We got tons of feedback and new ideas.
I have to admit that we were a bit unprepared for it and we had to make some quick adjustments in order to support the traffic.
I'm excited for what comes next!
It took a bit over one month, but I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for WriteNext. I worked for a few hours each day. It's done in React with Node.JS on the backend and MongoDB for the database. To host it, we're using Github Pages and Heroku.

I like the concept, but I cut and paste some text so now it skews the results. I write 1,300 words a minute? I wish! :)
