Writer's Bloc

Launch day! We opened the doors to the public as a paid community and gave everyone on our waitlist a free one-month trial.

This was a lite launch, only marketed on Twitter and by word of mouth. Since this is a community for writers, we're after slow growth so members can get to know each other.

We sourced our beta group on Twitter from the existing community of writers that we were familiar with. It wasn't a hard sell, there were plenty of people interested.

We started slow with 15 beta members and eventually capped the beta group at 30 users to keep it intimate.

During our beta month, we kept a waitlist of others with interest on our website and had that list up to 100 people by the end of the beta period.

Two days after talking about an idea, action took place. Writer's Bloc was set up and launched on Slack and the entire community was built out over the course of a day.

On the same day we launched our website on writersblochq.com and began sourcing beta users on Twitter.

The idea for Writer's Bloc is born and the community is created. Founders Cullin, Ryan, and Logan started by talking about writing together and quickly realized there were others who wanted to be part of this as well.

Writer's Bloc was created because writing can be lonely, and that's no fun.
