WXLLSPACE
Wall space marketplace connecting real estate and artists
I recently had to fire my previous development team who I found on Upwork. It was a very slow moving and inefficient team. I was getting increasingly upset day after day and finally fired them. They ended up messing up a bunch of code and deleting some important files that were needed. I hired a part time PM to help me manage the situation before I fired them and he notified me about the horrible work they were doing.
After a dozen or so interviews, I came across a full time senior REACT developer who checked all the boxed and has been working with us for about 3 weeks. It has been a very tough month or so since I felt like I was in limbo for too long, but now ready and back on track for a new release end of November.
I hate Wordpress. Completely over the lack of usability and responsiveness on mobile/tablet views. Decided to go with REACT and landed on a MERN stack using Bootstrap. Although I realize this removes a lack of control over the day to day operations from me, I believe I will get a custom product that better fits my vision.

Artist was sourced via the platform we built and completed in just under 3 weeks. Artist @Daas on instagram and his title project "Stillwater Flowers". The building is a 42 rental unit building in Stamford, CT. We have posted photos here on our site. https://wxllspace.com/

We are 95% of the way through completing our 4th biggest project to date! We connected an artist from Austin, Texas and he painted a 65 x 35 foot mural. The developer requested an Augmented Reality component and once his new multifamily rental building opens in Stamford, CT the community will get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Will post photos as soon as its done 😇

In just 6 months we reached 300 registered artists! We reached this goal by reaching out to artists on Instagram and inviting them to the platform. I promoted a few episodes of the podcasts we are doing to promote and get an in depth view into the artists creative lifestyle. Currently using Zapier, Wordpress and Airtable to collect this user info. We have a few mural opportunities we are trying to do with some real estate owners who have expressed interest in a mural.

After spending a few months of research, messing around with copy and illustration and overall landing page ideas, I created a informative site that detailed what we are building and how it will work with real estate developers and artists. The site started on Squarespace then transitioned to WIX for a landing page. Definitely focused too much on design while building this and realized I could use a template with Wordpress. Decided to purchase this and begin customizing. At the moment, this will be where we are going to begin receiving signups using a vast amount of No Code tools such as Zapier and Airtable to receive information, send automated emails and collect user information to connect artists to projects.

I've always been a creative but working in real estate development for 12 years, I could not escape the cyclical work life and wanted to implement creative aspects into our companies holdings. I always wanted to be creative at my job, but having a job that did not make it easy to transition to other positions or have much room for growth, left me feeling complacent and stagnant for too long. So I decided to take the plunge and pursue this idea full time.
