July 23, 2026 Free AI Bazi Fortune Teller — 3000-year Chinese wisdom meets AI

Maker Introduction (Who are you?)

I'm a solo developer based in China, passionate about making ancient wisdom accessible through AI. I started coding 3 years ago and this is my first SaaS-ish product.

What's the product?

xiaosuanshi.com is a free AI-powered Chinese metaphysics platform. It offers:

  1. Bazi Chart (八字排盘) — Enter your birth date/time → get a full Four Pillars destiny chart, Day Master analysis, Five Elements balance, 10-year luck cycles, and personalized life reading. All powered by AI (DashScope qwen-turbo).

  2. Feng Shui Analyzer — Upload a photo of any room → AI identifies layout problems, missing corners, element imbalances, and gives practical remedies.

  3. Guanyin Oracle (观音灵签) — A digital version of the traditional temple divination. Shake virtual sticks → draw one of 100 authentic poems from a Ming Dynasty temple, with AI interpretation.

  4. Daily Fortune Cards — Draw a card every day, shareable with friends. Built with html2canvas for card export.

  5. Book of Destiny (命之书) — Generate a personalized ~3000-word "life book" covering career, relationships, health, and yearly forecasts. Takes about 30 seconds to generate.

How did you come up with the idea?

I noticed a few things:

  • r/fengshui, r/iching, r/taoism collectively have 700K+ subscribers on Reddit

  • TikTok #fengshui has 34 billion views

  • Existing services charge $20-80 per reading

  • Most require booking a human master, which is slow and expensive

AI changes the game — what used to cost $50 and take 3 days now takes 30 seconds and costs me ~$0.01 in API fees.

The validation came from FateTell (fatetell.com). A 5-person Chinese team built almost the exact same product, reached profitability in 6 months, and is reportedly doing $100K+/month — all with zero ad spend, purely organic.

How did you build it?

  • Frontend: Vanilla JS + CSS, no framework. ~20KB CSS, fully responsive, zh/en i18n

  • Backend: Node.js + Express + MySQL

  • AI: Alibaba DashScope (qwen-turbo) with structured prompts constrained to traditional Bazi framework

  • Hosting: $24/mo VPS in Singapore (Ubuntu + Caddy + PM2)

  • Billing: Nothing yet — 100% free. Planning PayPal integration

The Bazi calculation engine was the hardest part. It uses traditional Chinese calendar math (solar terms, sexagenary cycle, Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches). I ported the algorithm from a Qing Dynasty reference table — there's no npm package for this, you have to understand the math.

What are your numbers?

  • Launched: July 17, 2026 (6 days ago)

  • Users: ~100 (organic, no ads)

  • Google crawling started yesterday (23 visits from Googlebot)

  • TikTok: 6 videos posted, ~2K total views

  • Listed on: GPT Store, Toolify.ai, TopAI.tools, OracleHunt, aigc.llear.cn

  • Revenue: $0 (100% free currently)

What's next?

  1. SEO — Rank for "free bazi calculator", "chinese astrology reading" etc. Googlebot just started crawling.

  2. Monetization — Thinking pay-per-analysis ($1-3 per reading) or monthly subscription. FateTell charges $39.99, so there's room.

  3. More content — The "Book of Destiny" feature has the most potential. People love long-form personalized content.

  4. Reddit/TikTok — Organic content marketing. Already tested TikTok, getting slow but steady traction.

  5. Open source — Considering open-sourcing the Bazi calculation engine. Might drive developer traffic.

What do you need help with?

  1. English copy review — Are the translations clear or confusing? I'm not a native speaker.

  2. Monetization model — Free with ads? Pay-per-use? Monthly subscription? What's worked for you?

  3. SEO strategy — How do I compete with established astrology sites that have been around for years?

  4. Product Hunt launch — Worth doing? I already submitted once but want to do a proper launch with a following.
