Xifta: Tour Tickets, Records & More!

Finally with version 1.2.6 we have a fairly decent fully working plugin for Chrome! We finished up the marketing page and made sure that the plugin wasn't available on mobile or other browsers. Next, we started looking into ways to get the word out about it and to try and get more beta testers in to check out the product!

Initially we had been using a very basic way to scrape the pages of Youtube, Youtube Music and Spotify to get the data we need to reference our new API, however the way we were doing this wasn't very efficient, so we started looking into re-writing the code using mutation observers. This really made the code more manageable and a lot more light weight on the client.

After many months of wrangling with the discogs API we basically found a way to download all the data locally. Having done this we restructured it and built our own leaner API using their data. The songkick API was working fine so we continue to use that as of today.

Myself and my company partner Vincent starting working on a really rough idea using Svelte and Java. We put together a fairly basic design with a stripped down backend that attached to discogs api and the songkick api.

We slowly found out that the discogs API was total garbage and planned out how we'd approach using their data in another way
