XPlan
Offline Kanban for Windows. Android wi-fi sync.
XPlan 1.0 was kind of a MVP. Essential features for Kanban were there but a lot was not there too. So, for this second major release, I focused on the completion of the major features needed for personal use. In particular:
- vertical grouping (swimlanes)
- visual composition for filters (accurate filtering syntax is a distinctive point of XPlan)
- improved custom views
- recurrent tasks
- no SQL Server needed (huge mistake to use it in the 1.0)
Now, before starting work at the 3.0, it's time for promotion!
A Kanban for Windows only has short legs. Mobile needs must be addressed. I knew it before. But it took me a while because I didn't want to sync data with the cloud. Offline is the selling point of XPlan. Then... Why didn't I think of it sooner? Wi-fi sync!
I immediately started my Xamarin for Android app, designed a secure sync engine myself, and the app was out in a couple of months. Reader only, for now, but enough to bring your tasks with you.
Of course, an independent app is in the plans but I need this to get traction first.

I love productivity tools, and I love .Net on Windows so... I started that for myself. Then... hey, the offline thing can be interesting for others and no other "serious" Windows-native Kanban is there.
Also, the old purchase-once can be an alternative to the omnipresent subscription model, for Windows users. It could work.
The long story here:

There are no serious Windows-native tools for personal Kanban. Many prefer offline tools when possible for privacy and efficiency. With wi-fi sync, XPlan is able to go mobile too. And I plan to scale up to teams.
