Yada Yada
Discover and learn day-to-day software engineering lingo
We just launched Yada Yada, a newsletter for non-developers struggling to keep up with software engineering lingo. In the past, we've always ignored the idea of failing fast and validating our products quickly. As developers and designers, it was easy for us to build first and market later because it was already our craft.
With Yada Yada, we're trying a new approach of validating first and building later. Initially, we asked ourselves, "Can we build this product without writing a single line of code? Can we still reach our customers without building an app?" These two questions forced us to focus on the core of the product: defining commonly used technical terms for non-developers. For us, the easiest way to do this was to create a newsletter and find people to sign up. After creating the first post and marketing in Reddit and TikTok, we gained over 90 subscribers within the first week!
In the coming weeks, we plan to talk to our subscribers to create a more curated newsletter and eventually turn it into a web app (only if our subscribers want it though)!
tl;dr: If you struggle with validating your product, think of the easiest way to build it first. Then focus the rest of your time creating a feedback/validation loop and pitching it to your potential users. It's okay to experiment and do things that don't scale.
If you're a non-developer within the tech industry, sign up for Yada Yada to receive your software engineering word of the day!
About
My friends and I noticed our coworkers struggling to keep up with technical terms during meetings. To speed up the long, dreaded meetings, we created a newsletter to send curated technical words.

That Paul Graham link was a very interesting read!
How did you go about gathering your initial subscribers?
Most of our subscribers came from TikTok! One of our co-founders has a channel dedicated to UX design and posted a video about our launch.
