I'm a developer who types way too much every day — emails, docs, Slack messages, code comments. My wrists were not happy about it.

I tried every dictation tool I could find, but they all had the same problems:

• Required internet (so laggy, and what happens on a plane?)

• Sent my audio to someone else's servers (not great when dictating sensitive stuff)

So I built Yakki — a push-to-talk dictation app that runs 100% on your Mac. No cloud, no latency, no data leaving your device.

How it works:

• Your words appear wherever your cursor is, any Mac app

• That's it. No apps to switch to, no copy-paste dance

• You have total control (disable the cloud functionalities and no data leaves your mac, all the dictation and cleaning still works)

• As a bonus, you can record, transcribe audio from any app, meetings, etc (without having any weird thing having to join the meeting)

It uses on-device transcription via local models, so everything stays local. Works offline too.

What I'm looking for:

Honest feedback. I've been using it daily for months and it's changed how I work, but I know I'm biased. The first week my friends starting beta testing it, they found more bugs than me using it for weeks... I'd love to hear what works, what's broken, and what's missing.
