App updates and new weather data
by Drew ThomasA new update for Yesterdays Weather just hit iOS and Android app stores... because the Dark Sky weather api is being shut down at the end of 2020, I needed to redo the entire "weather sentence" API that Yesterdays Weather is built off of.
In the process of switching to the Open Weather API, I improved the variables and weighting of the weather sentence itself. Now, in addition to "feels like" temp, precip, and wind speed, it also factors in humidity and cloud cover!
The one thing missing (over the entire past year since it was last updated!) is a quick view of the current temp on the home screen... that's fixed, too! It now shows the weather sentence... like "Currently, it's 4 degrees warmer than yesterday, but it's less humid" and then a forecast sentence underneath... like "Now 40, Today 56/32, No rain."
