After a 11 week long test run of our Japanese 101 course, we have decided to add weekly classes to our subscription.

The new Yomi.ai+ monthly subscription includes the premium features on the website, weekly virtual classes (we're offering our synchronous and virtual Genki I course on Sundays with more courses scheduled to be started within the next two weeks).

We increased the monthly subscription price for new subscribers to $49/month.

After 4.5 months, we broke through $1,000 in revenue. This has been largely driven by our recent offering of adding a virtual Japanese 101 course, which will run for ten weeks and start on September 6th. You can get info on the course by entering your email at https://101.yomi.ai.

As previously mentioned, on Tuesday we just switched from our pay-what-you-want-model to the subscription-model. The same day, we had one person sign up for the trial. Five days have passed without a cancellation. This means, we have our first official subscriber.

Yesterday, we replaced the pay-what-you-want-model with the subscription-model. Since soft-launching on April fourth, customers paid on average $24 over these past few weeks. We set the regular subscription rate at $12.99 per month with a five day free trial.

The users who pledged before the switch to the subscription model are marked as paid until the end of June. They will be offered discounts on July 1st going forward based on their contributions.

While it is still early, the numbers are a little lower than I would like them to be. Especially, considering that subscribers are now in the trial phase and I will see how many will stick around later. Most likely I will have to spend more time on marketing and reduce active developing time until the conditions change.
