Zedgi

Edge proxy for your own Redis, Postgres & MySQL

July 9, 2026 ZedGi — Connect any TCP, Redis, Postgres, or MySQL to serverless over HTTPS (no open ports, no VPNs, credentials never stored)

Hey IH 👋

I built ZedGi — a TCP-to-HTTP proxy that lets serverless/edge runtimes talk to your own Redis, Postgres, and MySQL databases over plain HTTPS. No open ports, no VPNs, no migrating your data to a managed service.

The problem: Cloudflare Workers, Vercel Edge, and Deno Deploy can’t reliably open or pool raw TCP connections, and wrangling that at the edge is a mess. So if you’ve already got a database, you’re stuck choosing between vendor lock-in (Upstash, Neon, PlanetScale), complex VPN tunnels, or just giving up on edge/serverless for anything database-backed.

How ZedGi solves it:

  • You paste your database host + port in the dashboard (no credentials — we never see them)

  • You get an HTTPS subdomain (e.g. acme.zedgi.app)

  • Your app calls it like a REST API — the SDK encrypts your DB credentials client-side with your X25519 key, signs every request with HMAC, and we proxy the TCP connection from a Node bridge

The part I'm most proud of: Credentials are encrypted client-side and only decrypted transiently in-memory inside a 30-second bridge JWT. They're never stored, never logged, never in D1 or KV. Even if our database got dumped tomorrow, there'd be zero plaintext passwords to leak. And because that’s the whole point, self-hosted proxy nodes are next — so you can run the TCP bridge yourself and credentials never touch our infrastructure at all.

Stack: Cloudflare Workers (control plane) + D1 + KV + a Node proxy for the TCP bridge. Built on ZinTrust, my auth/crypto framework — this is its first public product.

Pricing: 1000 free requests/day. After that, ~$0.00001/call, prepaid only — no surprise invoices.

I’d love brutal feedback from this crowd. The closest alternatives I can think of are managed DBs like Upstash/Neon or Cloudflare’s own Hyperdrive pooler — what would make you actually reach for ZedGi instead?

About

I built ZedGi to solve my own problem: my crypto/fintech app ran on edge/serverless (Cloudflare, Vercel, Deno) but couldn't reach my own Redis, Postgres & MySQL. ZedGi bridges them over HTTPS — no ports, no VPNs.
