ZimexApp
Marketing platform to easily link business and customers
Got now more than 1000 products posted on my marketplace - www.zimexapp.co.zw , its been wild ride and still have more milestones to cover. Its good motivation to see users creating accounts and posting products even tho no direct revenue coming tho.
My overall traffic is still low and demotivating sometimes. With some deep-thinking and understanding of the challenges on 3rd world economy, i will keep on working on the project. Its a real battle to run online business in 3rd world economy.
Hopefully my next update will to celebrate a huge increase in traffic

When developing my side projects, i always read the quotes below when i lose focus or burn out or start to wonder what am i doing.

And you’re not off the hook just because you have an amazing launch. Nearly 50,000 people checked Gumroad out on the first day, which was great! Even more saw our fundraising announcement(s). But in terms of real customers, almost none of them came from all that fanfare. It was a lot of really consistent growth over a long period of time–mostly driven, especially at the beginning, by a hard-working sales team - Gumroad

People always ask me this, and the answer is always super boring: we sent a lot of emails. That's really it. We scoured the web for people who could benefit from a product like Gumroad, and then told them about it. Literally thousands of times. That's the only way, really, when you're young and no one cares or knows who you are, to get folks to use your product. - Gumroad

So many times I could have quit. So many times it seemed the the world was telling me to quit. I could have quit when it was hard, or a new competitor launched to fanfare, or when I did not know how I was going to make payroll.Being naive enough to think I could succeed eventually willed Pagely into existence. Do not underestimate the power of not knowing any better. - Pagely

Technology especially the internet makes it easy to escape the constrains of living in 3rd world country. Internet is genuinely a basic human right. It provides resources that wouldn't have been possible in my country.
I live in a landlocked small African country called Zimbabwe. With continued mismanagement of the economy, its a struggle to innovate and build products. Thankfully mobile internet is easily accessible though bit expensive. The internet has helped me a lot in getting resources to make innovation work here.
I have learnt how to program, how to start and grow successful internet business through the internet, its such a great resource to escape constrains of third world economy.
Its a struggle to innovate and survive when you first have to make sure you innovate ways to get basic human needs then after that you have to innovate on your product. I salute all innovators living in Africa.
The good thing though, its that there are many opportunities available to innovate in a developing country. You can start your business and grow with the economy. Africa as a whole has more than 1 billion people and that's a market ready for local innovative products. It makes me glad to be among the people trying to provide products to the African continent.
Reading indie hackers stories from experienced hackers is great motivation to know whats possible through innovation.

Energy, mobile, finances, agriculture. I saw some great innovation coming from Sub-Saharan Africa. Been on a few months exploratory trip around West Africa. Plan on checking Southern Africa later this year.
I definitely would love to network with more African geeks and entrepreneurs. Feel free to reach out.

Very true Sub-Saharan is leading in tech innovation. Many venture capital firms from western countries have started to invest is some of the start ups. Its proof that there is market for local innovation and great products are going come out of here.
Please come thru to Southern Africa and explore, there many opportunities here, the market is still young n hungry for innovative products.
