After months of hard work and attempts to find product market fit, I decided to cut my losses and shutdown Zimo. I have learned a few things that I want to share.

1. Product market fit
   Don't the hard things first before even you decide to write code. I know there are a lot of articles out there which talk about product market fit. I would be wise when you have an idea to test out first (not to your friends and family of course) but to your target market. I bypassed this step and found it difficult to find product market fit.

This was a painful experience as I wasted so much resources and time that could have been spent elsewhere. I hope you don't make the same mistake.

2. Don't be married to your idea
   I was so attached to my idea that I believe it hindered my perspective, which prolong its existence.

It was a long and painful gained in trying to get traction but I also gained a lot of technical skills that I previously did not have. These skills will be invaluable in future ventures.

After weeks of development and iteration of the product, Zimo was in a good shape to finally ship. There are still many feature that can enhance the product but we decided to focus crucial features only and keep the product light. So far we have received positive feedback. True validation will come from payment from our target market.

After a friend who worked for an web agency kept on complaining about how onboarding remote workers was time consuming and not scalable, I decided to dig deeper into the issue. I conducted research and saw a gap in the market that Zimo can address.
