Zoom Games
Online realtime multiplayer games for meetings and life
Work is busy, so I only updated some branding, logo, etc. I also made another YouTube update video and have worked out most of the script for my next video discussing different tech.
As part of my marketing plan, I am building in public and using YouTube videos to do so. The next video will focus on frontend tech and hopefully be more SEO friendly. Since I have a handful of videos about my app thus far, I'm hoping to start gaining traffic to it by reaching a broader, tech and product focused audience with new videos, and funnel them to the channel and app.
I'd built two games in React-Native (my first foray into it from React - it was okay, but not awesome), but realized that the SEO benefits of going with a PWA were far superior, so I learned Svelte and have moved one game to Svelte (Bingo).

Deployed with firebase for a bunch of stuff, hooked up hosting, assets all good, and have been documenting my progress in a YouTube channel. I'm excited to get the second game moved, figure out mobile, add a sitemap, and move more requests to SSR to get SEO benefits started.

Got a lot more comfortable with Svelte and realtime; solving some fun challenges with queries/subscriptions here that hadn't manifested in the same way using React-Native. My video focuses on the project work and not so much the technical decisions. I'm going to also post some of those videos, but was on vacation and simply didn't have much time to create/edit a video update.

This is to, again, attempt to gain audience (I figure I'll do 50 decent to high quality videos, see if it helps, plus SEO) and also think through my decisionmaking for zoomgames.app. In this video I actually realized some target markets I hadn't considered, and it helped shape my strategy for which games I'm going to prioritize. It's why I'm moving my Bingo game from React Native to Svelte first, so I can start the SEO efforts right away.

So in this video I went into some of the reasons why I was creating this project, the current work I'm undertaking with it, and some of the decisions I made. It's mostly centered on using Google Trends and that information with additional quick market research to make product decisions early on.

I decided I wanted to start a channel to document my journey with side projects, and specifically to go through this one. Basically, I recorded a bunch of stuff, ignored most of it, got lost in iMovie, and then watched YouTube tutorials to understand how to do it a little better.
All I did was push out the edited intro video, mostly to get my feet wet. It was fun though and is good motivation to make strong progress each week

I wanted to make some fun, funny multiplayer games that can be played quickly. I'm going to focus on Bingo games, card games and drawing games for now.
