When you're launching on Product Hunt, don’t make the mistake of sending emails on your launch day.
You need to warm up your subscribers about your launch at least a week before. This will help you get more support and rank higher on Product Hunt.
Use this tested, 3-email sequence for your Product Hunt launch:
When you finalise your launch day, create a coming soon page on Product Hunt and send a mail to your subscribers list.
What you can discuss in the mail:
Product Hunt doesn’t value upvotes from new users on Product Hunt (and might consider it to be low-quality), so it’s better if your subscribers create an account on PH atleast a week before your launch.
When there's 3 days left for launch, send a follow up mail to your subscriber list, in which you can share these:
Mail your subscribers asking for support once your launch is live, in which you can share these:
Tip: If you use a email marketing software like Convertkit or Mailerlite, it is better to batch your subscribers based on the locations and schedule a launch mail according to their time zone.
This will help you
PS: If you don't have time to write these mails from scratch and looking for inspiration, we created 3 emails templates that you can copy and use for your Product Hunt launch straight away. Click here to get the email templates for free

Useful guide for my launch next week! Thanks for the tips
Great job, Karthik! This is an awesome guide on how to effectively launch your product on Product Hunt. Your 3-step sequence provides valuable insight and tips on how to get the most from your launch. Kudos for your hard work!
I Felt, this going to help me with the product launch of the hiring software on which my team has been working. It gave me a new concept on how to build awareness as well.
Very insightful sharing! Thanks.
Any recommended tool to gather emails from Stripe customers or users stored in mongdb?
Hey, this is awesome! I'm actually working on something in this space, do you have any real examples of these sequences?
Thanks for the details sequence flow. WE are launching on coming Monday this will help us to plan the things
I thought about doing something similar, but thought it was just too much to ask for people who subscribed to receive news about the launch of my product.
Don't you think this could have the opposite effect and push people to unsubscribe from your mailing list?
If I receive a sequence like, I knew I would instantly unsubscribe. I'm ok to receive your email when you launch your product or when you push new features, but I don't want to be "spammed" to upvote your product on PH.
What do you think?
If you’re too promotional and pushy in your content, the unsubscribes will be more. But if you tell how this launch will help your product and how their small help will help you grow your startup. Then your subscribers would be happy to support you.
Yes, that makes sense.
Noted for future reference ✍️ thank you.
I still need to build a list of subscribers.
I'm considering starting on Product Hunt. It looks like having seed users and early traffic is crucial before launching. I'm still figuring out the approach. Thanks for sharing—your insights answered some of my questions. Awesome sharing!
Yeah, it's better to have audience before the launch. This increases our chances of ranking higher on Product Hunt.

That's very helpful, big thanks!
I always thought of PH as a way to get first eyes on my product. But reading this post and a couple of others made me realize that I need a community behind my product prior to launch. But then what's the point of launching there? Can you even grow your customer base this way?
Fellow indie hackers, what do you think?
