Hey Indie Hackers,
My new startup 50 Hacks recently got massive traffic from Reddit and ended up #2 product of the day on Product Hunt.
I breakdown the journey and I hope it inspires you to launch your startup asap 🚀
I am going to check it out
Let me know how is it :)
There's another subreddit r/webdev which provides much traffic, and video upload is permitted. I once got the approximate views on that sub
nice, will definitely check this out. Any tips?
Curious if you got any backlinks from going viral on Reddit? Someone prob linked to you from 40k people.
1,326 backlinks in total form 100 domains. I think it's a long-term game, hopefully media will pick this up soon and spin the wheel.
From your experience, what's your best tip from launch on Reddit today? And what you'd avoid for next time?
Did you see an increase in traffic going to your main product because of this? Any conversion upticks?
I remove the ad for my main app when launching on Reddit because promotion usually kills your post.
I only added it recently and so far the results are great, about 100 signups.
Wow, nice! So what's the play here? Were you just trying to add more tips and votes to your database? Or do you have some monetization plan? Or was this just for fun? I'm always interested in how people capitalize on a surge of traffic like this.
I use the traffic spike to grow awareness and Twitter, which helped the app get #2 product of the day on Product Hunt.
I added promotion for Habits Garden recently and it's rising signups!
Hey Marc, I don't want to spam your site but I still need a little bit of love:). By the way, nice work!
You made me smile, double the love you get!
Thanks 😊
You're already well on your way, but have you tried GummySearch? Pretty magical for anything reddit related.
will check it out!
I like how we don't need to create accounts to leave comments
Thanks!
How did you come up with the design/user interface? It's simple and awesome!
I got inspired by Reddit and used DaisyUI free components library.
Thanks!
Amazing thank you for sharing!
trick is to figure out a way to do this repeatedly, as some posts are one hit wonders. track conversions
I try to launch a new app every month for that^^
What's next? :D
An accountability group for daily habit, building it in 24 hours while transiting from Bali to France!
I got banned from Reddit so many times. Hate that site. I got banned for saying this stock is retarded in r/wallstreetbets
Well you can try other subreddits :)
WSB bans everyone for random things they consider spam of small cap stocks

There is a bit of luck involved but the main thing is my app is free.
Redditors don't like to see ads, which results in poor performance

If you can remove the "paying" part of your app, it's better.
I deleted ads for my habit tracker when I launched on Reddit, and added therm after the storm.
Good luck too~
