45 Days from Idea to First Paying Customer (B2B SaaS)

Hey, friends.

I just wanted to share my experience and excitement with you. It's been 45 days since I started working on a new product. On July 1st, we decided to enter a highly competitive market with over 100 products already in it, as an experiment. I wrote about that in detail here.

We built the product in 31 days and launched it publicly on August 1st. I didn't do any promotion before the launch, so I had zero people on my waiting list. Here's what I did for promotion:

  • Spent $100 on Google AdWords.
  • Posted the project in AI tool catalogs for free using this list.

Currently, we've got about 100 registrations, approximately 10 active users, and 1 paying customer. I haven't set up all the events and conversions in Google Analytics yet, but here are some figures for the past week:

  • Landing page conversion rate: 8.5%
  • Registration form conversion rate: about 45%

What are my next steps?

  1. Set up Google Analytics to better understand the user acquisition funnel and identify sources of active customers.
  2. Expand and improve AdWords campaigns.
  3. Experiment with paid postings on AI tool catalogs.
  4. Gather more feedback from active users to prioritize features.
  5. Optimize the product and onboarding process to improve conversions at every step.

What should I focus on? Any advice?
