5 Ways to Get More Backlinks for Your Business

Are you looking for a way to build more backlinks to your site? If so, you're in the right place. Did you know that 90% of websites get zero traffic from Google because of an absence of backlinks? If you're a part of the majority, don't worry. There are things you can do to get more traffic and build your reputation with backlinks.

First, let's define the term backlink. Simply put, a backlink is an off-site hyperlink that leads back to your site. For instance, if someone quotes one of your articles, they may link to your original piece of content. This is just one example. There are plenty of other opportunities to get more people to share links that lead back to your website.

Today, we will take a look at several tips and tricks you can use to get more backlinks. Our two main focuses will be on content and social media marketing.

Let's get started.

Write High-Quality Blog Posts

The best way to get people to link to your website is to create a blog. On average, businesses with blogs tend to get 97% more backlinks than those who don't. A product page is excellent for people that are ready to buy. But what do you do with people interested in your brand but not prepared to commit to a purchase? You nurture them with your blog content!

When you create high-quality content, visitors are more likely to share your posts on social media. If you include in-depth reports and statistics, there's a good chance other brands will start linking to your post in their content. As a result, your blog can bring you traffic and backlinks from multiple sources simultaneously.

There are several things you can do to boost the quality of your content. First, we suggest researching your target audience. You want to ensure that your content addresses customers' goals and pain points while complementing your products, services, and brand identity. Your blog's tone, marketing, and value proposition can all influence someone's decision to share your post.

You can also increase the chances of getting more backlinks by writing long-form, value-packed posts. Research shows that articles over 2,500 words tend to get more backlinks and appear prominently for industry-specific keywords and phrases.

Attempt to Fix Broken/Outdated Links

Next, you can get more backlinks by fixing broken or outdated links on other websites that talk about your industry. As you're scrolling through posts, make sure you highlight and check off-site hyperlinks. There's a good chance some of the links are broken, or the information is outdated.

Let's say you're browsing a site with email marketing tips. One of the hyperlinks goes back to a tutorial from 2011. There's an excellent chance that this guide is totally outdated and not relevant to the readers.

Now, let's assume you have an article on your website that offers up-to-date information. You could contact the editor of the other website and ask them to replace the outdated or broken link with a link to one of your articles. If they accept the change, visitors will see your business name when they hover over the hyperlinks, which contributes to brand awareness. You'll also build a new backlink for your business.

This strategy can be used in two different ways. You could proactively browse content about posts you've already covered. You'll have an easier time moving the process along if your replacement post is live and getting consistent engagement.

You can also find broken links and then write a similarly titled post for your blog and contact the editor when the article is published. There's a chance this could get you more backlinks from the publication in question, but at the very least, you'll have an eye-catching new blog post.

Look for Guest Posting Opportunities

Guest posting is another excellent way to get more backlinks to your website. Essentially, guest posting is when you write a piece of content for another brand. Ideally, you'll have your name, a link to your website, and an author bio at the end of the post.

The link to your site in the bio is your backlink. So, writing guest posts for multiple publications is an excellent way to quickly build your links and get more traffic.

However, you can't write whatever you want and send it to a random publication. You have to find websites that publish industry-specific content and accept guest posts.

Start by visiting some of your favorite websites. They can either be a content-only publication or a full-fledged online store with a blog. Check their contact page to see if they are currently accepting guest posts. If so, look over their content and find information gaps to fill with a new post.

When you're ready, contact the editor and pitch your idea. We want to point out the importance of following directions. Every publication has different pitching rules. If you want to increase the odds that your post will get published, follow the guest post guidelines.

Once your guest post gets published, you'll earn a new backlink to your website.

Become a Community Resource

You can get a ton of backlinks for your business if you become a community resource. People look towards experts when they have a question or need advice. You have to put yourself in a position to help people, even if they've never heard of your website.

It's possible to get backlinks by answering questions for reporters on websites like Help a Reporter Out (HARO), by adding responses to quora questions, and by engaging with social media users in industry-specific groups or conversations.

You'll see questions that you can answer and some that you can't. We suggest focusing on questions where you can provide resources from your website. While this isn't a direct backlink, it will lead more people to your website. If you want people to share and link to your posts, they need to know you exist, right?

Live events, like social media video chats, can help you become a community resource. You can even create a simple contact form and encourage visitors to type in their questions days before the event. On the day of your presentation, answer questions from users and provide resources back to your website. Again, posting the content won't directly contribute to more backlinks, but it does help with brand awareness. When people are aware of your company, you have more chances to build links.

Work with Influencers

Speaking of social media, influencers are an excellent way to get more links back to your site. Social media influencers are internet personalities that create niche content for their subscribers. You can dramatically boost your reach by partnering with influencers and engaging with their audience.

Influencers will create sponsored posts across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and many others. Their goal is to let more people know that your company exists, usually in exchange for financial compensation or a free copy of your product.

The price of an influencer post depends on their audience and the type of content you want them to create. A nano-influencer (500-5,000 subscribers) charges about $31 for a Facebook post. However, a celebrity influencer (500+ followers) charges an average price of $3,857 for a full YouTube video.

Your preferences will depend on your industry and the community as a whole. We recommend partnering with influencers that have values and viewers that match your own. You'll find that it's easy to work on promotions when both parties are on the same page.

One thing worth noting is that over 51% of the global population uses social media. So, if you want to expand your reach and get more backlinks to your website, influencer marketing is the way to go.

Final Thoughts

Backlinks are a fundamental part of SEO and essential for businesses across all industries. You'll find that once you start getting backlinks, it's easier to keep them rolling in. Don't get discouraged if it takes you a while to get your first few links. This is one strategy you don't want to ignore.

These tips are quite useful @syedbalkhi. I've in fact had the experience of trying some of them myself for ruttl's off-page SEO activities.

QQ for you - If I have found couple of articles on the net where ruttl can be quite useful for the audience and I wanted to get a backlink in that post, how should I approach the write/author of the article? I tried cold mailing/messaging couple of them but it hasn't worked out well.
