5 years ago today I was laying in hospital puking blood thinking my life was over

In 2016, I was rushed to hospital with internal bleeding - my stress levels from running a venture-capital startup compounded with an existing undiagnosed infection had lead me to my body's breaking point.

The experience made me question many things in my life - my health, my happiness and my business.

I first wrote about this in 2016 when it happened, and I'm pleased to be able to add a happy ending five years later.

This experience was a huge motivator for me discovering this very community and taking an indie approach to entrepreneurship.

I hope my story can help you with your own struggles.

I remember reading your incredible story Kyle. Unfortunately some of us need to go through health issues to find out that success was not what we were expecting.

Happy that you found your way!

Really nice story Kyle and thanks for sharing! I love how you finally defined success.

The problem with success is that we let sources outside of ourselves define it. In the startup world, I was successful; in my world, I was failing.
I can't tell you what success is because only YOU can define what it means for you. I can only tell you that success is not what anyone else tells you it is.
It took me 33 years and almost losing my life to figure this out. I hope my story can help you on your journey.
    To health and happiness 🍺

I fully agree with your perspective and I am happy that you found yourself through all these struggles. You turned "bad experiences" into "life learnings" that you will be always grateful for.

Congrats, keep it up and wish you all the best! ❣️
