I decided to have some fun with my product page and added some confetti! 🎉

Now whenever anyone clicks the download button, they're showered with glorious confetti before being redirected to the App Store.

Watch a gif or see it for yourself at https://emporter.app.

Checked your landing page, the confetti made me happy :D

I loved the bulldog idea. 2 remarks: this kind of service could benefit of a small video. Just record your screen ... 10 seconds is enough. Another thing. I didn't understand the name. Emporter. Does it have to do with teleporter?

About the service.... I guess it is not the intended use, but could I use it to tunnel to my pc via ssh. My ISP blocks me building a ssh server. I need to keep a machine to tunnel to my phome pc when I am out.

Thanks for your input! I've been hard at work making a product video, which is about to go live. I'll probably start another discussion on IH for feedback. :)

Also, only HTTP(s) traffic is currently supported.

Nice graphics but what is a secure url to your mac? Can I create a link to a file on my computer or take over my mac from an url? I don't have a mac so I'm not your target market, just curious what you can do with this.

I'm in the process of clarifying this, but it's a service which securely tunnels HTTP traffic to your computer using a public, shareable URL.

In practice, you can create a URL to your existing web server. If you don't have a server running already, you can just choose a folder and it'll be served using the one built-in.

Interesting, I think it helps to add this and some use cases to make your value proposition more clear.

how did you decide to start working on this? did you need it yourself?

        1. 1

Definitely! I'm working on putting together sketches to illustrate some copy I have in the works, it should be live soon-ish.

I decided to start working on this because I've been working with different design and engineering teams over the past few years, and needed a tool that people from either backgrounds could use comfortably. I use it myself, too!

... time to update ours again, feeling inspired! ;)

Saw this one on boredaf.app! Good addition

I love when makers add things like this!

I saw that the illustrations were based on your dog. Another good touch. :)

Really nice, where have I seen that confetti before??

I've found a library that does something similar, maybe the same one even: https://daniel-lundin.github.io/react-dom-confetti/

Thanks, Shane! I used the same library used by react-dom-confetti called dom-confetti. It's by the same author, too.

You may have originally seen it on a post that was trending on HN, called Why isn't the internet more fun and weird?. That's where I first discovered it, anyway!

Correct yes! That was a pretty awesome post actually!

Man, I love your website seriously!

Fun illustration and minimal (and the confetti of course!)

J'ai vu que tu es Français, moi aussi, passe voir mon site ça devrait t'intéresser : http://orelauwen.com/

Thanks for your kind words, Orel!

Je ne suis pas français mais j'habite ici à France depuis 2011. Cool site à pareil ! Pourquoi tu utilises un pseudonym ? C'est très mystérieux ça 😄

      1. 1

        Oh okay :)

I prefer people to focus on my work not on me!

  11. 1

    That’s really cool! 🙌🏻

  12. 1

Can I ask who did your illustrations? Love those as well.

    1. 2

Hey Andrew! A friend of mine Sébastien del Grosso drew them. They're based on my dog :)

I plan on blogging about the illustrations soon, actually. We went through a few iterations and I kept some copies of the sketches he did by hand. He's super talented and fun to work with.

Love it - Too many websites are too serious feeling.
