Hi Davey, I'd be interested to hear more about the sentiment analysis you carried out, sounds fascinating. Is this for a future feature of Magnus Rush? If so, what benefits do you think that would bring to your users?
It's built in now to the SaaS platform as of last night. When I do a transcription on an episode, I can run text analysis on them.
The results look like this: Positive: 56%, Negative: 23%, Neutral: 10%, Mixed: 11%
The results are going to be useful for a show host to see how their show is mapping out emotionally, and to use that as a directional vector for improving their shows, depending on audience reaction to each episode. For example, if a comedy show is hitting the mark with a very neutral or negative vibe, they can optimize for that and watch the stats change. Or if a show that skews positive also skews higher in user-based tips or per-episode rating, that's something else to take note of and optimize against. The intent is for the podcaster to use the tools to improve their shows over time and build their audience. ie actionable metrics.
I can also potentially use the data to promote shows which skew in the direction the listener seems to prefer, or at least make it a consideration in the decision engine.
Thanks for getting back to me — very interesting indeed. How did you zone into positivity/negativity being a factor in how the audience reacts to content?
Looking at my personal podcast choices, I enjoy content on both ends of the spectrum so long as it's a topic which interests me and that it's delivered in an authentic manner. In other words, the overall sentiment of a podcast doesn't contribute to my enjoyment of it.
Are you planning to publish some of this data, perhaps write some articles exploring your findings? I for one would be very interested and it could serve as an excellent marketing tool for your product.
I didn't verify it at all, yet. I know one thing.. podcasters are largely in the dark for feedback for their podcasts, except for those listeners who choose to do some minimal interaction on Twitter, or send in comments/feedback. This data is scattered. Also, a host might not realize that over time they have been skewing more negative, perhaps due to circumstances in their life.
One of the primary objectives for the platform is to provide statistically significant, consolidated, actionable data for a show host so they can see what worked and what didn't. The hope is that a pattern will emerge, and it's going to be different for every show. Do they get more engagement when:
1 - the show is positive?
2- the show is neutral?
3- the show is longer/shorter?
4- they ask for feedback?
5- there are multiple calls to action defined in a show?
Engagement could measured by any of:
That sounds like really valuable data, I'll be interested to see how you get on and what your findings are. Thanks again for getting back to me on all my questions!

Reached out to potential users for some feedback. (Probably need to get a little better at this part... not getting a lot of responses)
Added Drift to TODO Tracker - although I'm not sure if it's really necessary I figure if I get at least one message on it ever it's a 'win'.
Made my first post on IndieHackers and got some great feedback!
TODAY
Apply some feedback I received on my IndieHackers post, continue to reach out for feedback and try to get people to actually commit to signing up and using the app (I've only had 4 or 5 people actually sign up so far, but have gotten a lot of eyes on it).
I've had a hard time figuring out the right way to 'brand' it, between super simple for anyone to use as they're starting up their project and super niche for agile orgs that have existing issues with Technical Debt.
KUDOS: Shout out to @Harlem for some good feedback this morning on my branding / landing page needing some work.
WIP: TODO Tracker
Really cool product you have here, integrating like that likely has the benefit of increased engagement inside the source control tool...a notoriously hard thing to get in some enterprises.
Very curious to see how sales of this goes. How are you marketing this?
Thanks for reaching out, I think it's pretty cool too. I'm excited to get some plans set up and see what people think.
As of right now the app is entirely free to use while we're in 'open beta'. Marketing plan isn't exactly in place yet... I'm working with a my local network of developers, SCRUM Masters, and project managers to get feedback & feature requests.
If you have any ideas for marketing or feedback that would be great & much appreciated.
