Any good examples of building in public through email?

PS Do you mind sharing which onboarding app slowed your page loads down? I'm using AppCues and get that feeling too.

We do this for our AI video editor startup, Nuro.video.

What I do is I write an "investor letter" every month (even though we are bootstrapped). First I write in English, then I translate it to French and add context for our French customers.

And then I email both versions to our respective lists.

I think it's worth telling the story of what we're building (e.g. When we tripled signups after adding AI, or this month, announcing that we are shutting down a $1M-per-year business to focus on our $100k ARR startup instead).

I see several benefits:

1. Putting forward a list of commitments for the next month keeps me accountable
2. If we ever need to raise investments, having a strong history of transparency is a huge plus
3. Stories are how people communicate. So it's easy for folks in our market to pass along the crazy story of e.g. how Sébastien is shutting down his (well-known in the space) business to focus on this epic AI tool. That is somewhat easier than trying to get them to talk about the tool.
4. It forces me to think clearly and strategically
5. It's fun to see things moving forward! Progress is happiness.
