🚀 Building My SaaS Product #5

I couldn't updated you for a while since I was confused during this period. There are 2 reasons of my confusion; pricing and a technical problem about usage credits. I've studied more than working for 2 weeks and I will be sharing what I learned 🤓👇

As I said first problem was pricing 💵 Y Combinator's video about pricing was one of the most useful resources for me. I should've calculate my costs and the value I created. Then I should've price my app between them. But it wasn't that easy.

Decided to ask my testers. Got pretty different responds. One of them told me that he would use it occasionally when he ran out of ideas and other one told that he would use it pretty often. Considering this, thought that offering individual and business plans might be reasonable.

Now I have 3 plans; free, individual and business. What about prices? When I look at similar projects, their individual tiers was around the same range (~10$) so I used the same range and decided to go with 9$ for it with slightly more generation credits.

But business plan was enigma. So I asked my testers again. One of my testers who used similar AI tools before told me that he would pay 20$ at most when he compared with other tools. I calculated the costs and decided to go with 19$.

Also learned that pricing is an iterative process. So after finding the initial price, 10-5-20 rule mentioned in the Y Combinator's video (https://lnkd.in/dj_pM7NC) can be implemented. Generated value should be 10x of the initial price and you should raise 5% until 20% push back.

Second problem was the technical problem which prevents me to see usages of the users. And I should work on it decent amount of time in order to fix it. That means delaying the launch of the product. But I don't want to delay it anymore 😩

So I will pre-launch the app and offer unlimited generations special to pre-launch. So that I will be getting feedback from real users, hopefully earning some money for costs and fixing the issue during this period.
