Building SaaS in public: week #1 report

Last week I started my building-in-public journey and here are my first (very modest) results.

Metrics 📊

  • +17 followers on Twitter (10 -> 27)
  • 65 visitors on artdeal.io
  • 1 signup to early access list

Building awareness about the service 📣

  • Indie Hackers introduction post (161 views and 15 users to landing page)
  • Twitter. Just starting here: posted a few tweets, learning how to engage on this platform (12 visits of the landing page from Twitter)
  • Sending the link to my friends.

Lessons learned 👨🏻‍🎓

  • People on Indie Hackers and Twitter are super friendly and supportive ))
  • Building in public is great but doesn’t replace marketing.
  • I need to research platforms with my target audience.

Plans 🗺

  • Twitter: deliver more value to conversations.
  • Indie Hackers: keep sharing the updates 1 post/week (or at least one/month).
  • Review platforms such as Reddit, Instagram accounts, and FB groups for the target audience (illustrators and artists).
  • Move towards building MVP.

MRR growth to everyone, hackers!

This is a really great update, I recently built www.curatedfunding.com to help creatives access grants awards and funding initiatives. just like you I'm currently trying to "research platforms with my target audience". happy to watch your progress its very generous of you to share your journey like this.

Tailwind UI helps non-designers to make beautiful pages, such a great tool! :)
