    Interesting idea!

Its not really clear as to why I would use this, or what problem it is addressing. Perhaps some examples of usage would make it clearer.

JsonResume format is popular resume definition format for some applications and also with some developers.

This tool is primarily target for developers.

Added to that I have few plans to provide API and custom user links to provide PDF and Json formats to integrate into other applications.

      etc.

      Thanks @marcusoconnell

You explained how to use your service but you didn't explain why someone would use it. It's still not clear. Use case, please :)

        1. 1

Easy backend integration and custom profiles and site generation with the available data.

Like a couple of other commenters, I'm confused about the use case. Is it supposed to be easier to write my resume in JSON, or would this be an export from some other system that I could display without having to do any work? What problem is this solving?

    1. 2

This is primarily targeted for programmers. And jsonresume is a popular format with some systems and with some developers. Once you have the resume in this format we can apply different themes and convert to pdf of other formats.

I am also planning to add some features like custom link resumes and API to integrate with other systems.

Some thoughts from somebody who is involved in hiring i.e. reviewing resumes: I don't really think the layout is ideal, or really even good looking. The relatively short example resume takes up 3 pages, which is absolutely unnecessary. The font and header are way too big. The icons make the resume seem cheep. Kill the large amounts color as well - nobody wants to print a colored resume.

@ezekg Thank you for valuable feedback. The current theme is a quick work selected from a list of available themes.

I am currently adding more themes (fixing some of the CSS issues). I will be adding more themes(Surely no-color themes :) and a single page theme soon.

Hey, that's a really clever idea, nice work. I do question if it is more of a 'feature' than a product though? Do you have a roadmap of additional improvements you'll add to the site? I think seeing a variety of themes/templates that you can choose via json would be cool as well.

Who are your target audience for this? I'm assuming programmers mostly right? If so, you might want to set up an api endpoint that returns a PDF download url, or a hosted version of just the resume? You'll also need full API documentation so people know how to control the format properly.

Overall, really cool idea although for making money I'm not too sure...

      Thank you @Jamie0

Themes are in pipeline, currently there are few CSS issues I am fighting with. Once that is done I will un-hide the dropdown to choose themes.

      Programmers are target audience.

I am thinking of following features,

Visual format control is a mess, for now I am thinking to fix the visual format to a fixed set of themes.

That was unexpected, but actually really neat! I see how I could use it for myself if I'd ever need a resume myself.

Thank you. Do let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback.

I love the idea. Saving my resume as JSON. And apply any theme without editing the info. Would love to see many themes. Cool themes . Great work

      Thank you @davisonpro
I am fixing issues with themes, will br able to adding more themes soon.

Seems like a cool side project. Like a technology demo.

What do you hope people use it for? How have you used it?

I am copy pasting a reply from other comment.

JsonResume format is popular resume definition format for some applications and also with some developers. Some of us feel its easy to store the resume data and apply themes on it. Updating resume is just updating the json data. For some of us developers JSON our second language :)

Added to that I have few plans to provide API and custom user links to provide PDF and Json formats to integrate in to other applications.

Not sure I get the idea why I'd want to write resume in a JSON format. Or is this from an export from something else? (ex. Linkedin?)

Hah got it. I did not know about JsonResume - learn something new every day! :-)

I think JSON -> personal website would be pretty sweet, applying the same principles.

          1. 1

I really thought of creating developer sites like about.me from json. But I wonder if developers show any interest? I am also not sure what is the practical need for that. Please let me know your comments on it.

            Thanks again.

            1. 1

I spent days tweaking my personal website. I think the time is mostly wasted to do something that's been done millions of times before. It'd be great to have something simple and well-designed, one that I can change the information in a format I am comfortable with.

But yes, a lot of tools people can use for this already. So the big question is, is the JsonResume format popular enough that people will prefer using it?

              1. 1

The Json format is minimal standard, it can be extended for the requirment.

I really don't know, so far seems there is some interest in it and I am going to findout and will surely post my finding on here.

Cool! The idea is lovely. I would probably add a touch of design to let the resume breeze and look more professional and catchy.

Also would be cool to have an opportunity to import from Linkedin to save some typing wherever possible.

    Keep up the good work!

Stringify.me already have few themes (currently hidden because of CSS layout issues). Once I have more than one stable theme I will enable theme selection option.

I guess LinkedIn exports a json format is restricted now, we need to export data from LinkedIn (as zip) then extract data from it. I will surely add to Todo list.

      Thank you @otchenashev

You mean if developer enters wrong data?
