CiteGenius - Update #2
It's been a few weeks since my first update on CiteGenius ( https://citegenius.com ) and I wanted to give an update.
I got some great feedback on my landing page - basically, I need to show the value of the product first thing. In order to do that more efficiently, I've prioritized 2 features that I want working before I do a demo video:
- Chrome Extension
- The Chrome Extension allows users to highlight text on any page and CiteGenius will automatically save it as well as associate it with the URL as a new source for their research. This is in review by Google now before being live.
- Better Source Input form
- Part of the appeal of CiteGenius is that it handles the MLA formatting automatically for you. Currently, it exposes a form of like 15 different possible items in the citation and you as the user have to figure out which ones are applicable to you. Instead of that, I'm letting the user select the type of source and then only showing the applicable form inputs. I'm currently finishing up at least an initial improvement of this form.

Goals:
In the next 2 weeks, I'm hoping to talk with some students and parents to better understand the pain points students face and how I can position CiteGenius to meet those. I'm really hoping to get my first 2 users as well.
I tried ~$20 on Google Ads and that was just a waste - I think because my landing page needs work. So, I'm looking at improving my landing page, then reaching out to some Reddit communities to try and get some students to offer feedback. Anyone had success with that before?
