This month I'm working on growing Indie Hackers' milestones feature.
โ YESTERDAY I pinged some "influencers" on Twitter to get them to start posting milestones. I think this direct sales/outreach method is tremendously underrated when it comes to growth, and it'll (hopefully) be something I make an effort to do for a long time.
๐ RESULTS were that Rand Fishkin agreed he'd started posting in another few weeks, and Nathan Barry made a post already! I also talked to a few others who I'm sure I'll eventually get posting. A cool side effect of this is it gives me a good excuse to get back in touch with cool people who I haven't spoken to in a while.
๐ทโโ๏ธ TODAY I'm recording "quick chat" podcast episodes with two top milestone posters in another hour or two. Pretty excited about it! I need to invite another couple people on as well.

Yes! Thanks @jas_hothi for the invite here, and @csallen I love what you've built! The milestones and business revenue/traffic tracking features are fantastic. Well done. I'll try to track milestones here, seems like a great place to do so publicly.

Hi, just curious about your experiences with The Plugin Economy. They're on my wishlist as well.
Would you recommend them?
Well, yesterday the traffic on my website increased 8x (almost 800 unique visits).
Btw, I see Tripetto on PH and probably will use in the future. I'll also move to Amsterdam soon and I'd love to meet you anytime.
Wow, that's serious growth! ๐
Hopefully we can achieve the same results with an interview at The Plugin Economy.
Great to hear you moving to Amsterdam soon. I'm definitely in for a chat, you know where to find me ;)
And let me know what you think of Tripetto by the time you give it a try. Any type of feedback is appreciated ๐.
I double checked my Google Analytics and this traffic is not from TPE. But I think you should go for it. ๐
I'll get in touch with you when I arrive in AMS. Count on me about the feedback.

Inspired by the 30 days of Growth, I committed to doing at least one promotional activity per month.
โ Yesterday: Quora Post
Iโm running low on ideas now lol. Didnโt have much motivation today to do the promotional challenge and I put it off until the end of the day as I didnโt have any unique ideas.
So, I just posted on Quora, this time for the canned responses feature. This one actually has a crap ton of views so maybe Iโll get something from this in the long run.
I included my GIF that did really well on Twitter a while back, so maybe this will resonate with Quora users.
Hereโs the link.
๐Results
It got 8 views. What's great about Quora is it has a good half life, so it will likely get some views every day for many years.
What's even better about Quora is that it's helping me write about my new product more, and understand why my product is different than the competition. It is also good to write this content as I can tweak and reuse it for blog posts and more Quora answers.
๐ทโโ๏ธToday
Inspired after talking to @csallen, I'm going to do some direct sales, and focus on outreach.
I think my product is great for companies that want to do case studies with their customers. So I will email some companies and see if they are interested in doing case studies (and how Pigeon could work for that.
That's great, I'm tempted to give Quora a shot now as @theBrandonWu mentioned it too.
Quora certainly is a good place for long-term traffic. We get consistent daily traffic from Quora to markd.co (low but consistent). Quora also does amazingly well on SEO.
On my other comment I talked a bit about Quora blog which has been a bit of a surprise to me in terms of the views it gets (https://www.indiehackers.com/post/73a54596a5?commentId=-LjQJ2kz44bMhGHlCNbc)

๐ทโโ๏ธ Prepared and send the newsletter to my 500+ subscribers
๐ทโโ๏ธ Bought two domain for the podcast: se-unlocked.com and software-engineering-unlocked.com
๐ Got a really big name as a guest on my show. Hooray!
โ I overdid my workout today and really didn't feel like recording a podcast but, with even the limited accountability of this thread, I pressed on and got it done!
โ I had an hour long phone chat with one of my longest-running subscribers and listened to his ideas and feature requests.
โ๏ธ Tomorrow, an old friend is in town so the only hard goal is editing and publishing the podcast & transcript.
Yay for pushing through and getting the podcast done!

Day 9 of pulsemetrics.io
โ Yesterday I set up the framework for Pulse to be featured on Product Hunt today, I also reached out to 60 or so trucking companies as I think that's an industry that could use a serious tech bump. Also went to a Maker Meetup in the NYC area
๐ Got the Pulse posting up, it's live now. So far none of the trucking companies are replying back, let's hope that changes soon. Spoke to a few people at the Maker meetup and decided I'll try to host my own event for later this month.
๐ทโโ๏ธ Welp, Pulse is now out there on https://www.producthunt.com/posts/pulse-metrics, next step is to market that news out there in an attempt to drum up support and get it to rise on the site. For the other parts of my day I think I'm going to start planning an event for mid to late July for non technical founders in the NYC area, if anyone has experience doing this and feels they have something that I MUST know, hit me up!
Great to see privacy by design. Something we've implemented in Tripetto as well. Pretty impressed with your site. Definitely like the comparison part with your competitors.
Upvoted you on PH! Good luck with the rest of the campaign!
Yep the fact that we don't exploit user data is actually a selling point for our product as crazy as that sounds. Thanks for checking us out!

โ Talked about the game on Indie Hackers ha.
๐ +1 to 94 user accounts. All the steady progress adds up!
๐ทโโ๏ธ Should have the CRUD operations for friends done, and should start working on some other parts of multiplayer like forming groups of your friends to play with.
I really should make a video of gameplay footage. I think that would help a lot with making it easy to understand pre-download.

โ What did you do yesterday?
A: Cross posting blog posts to Quora (https://markd-blog.quora.com/).
B: Reached out to 1 startup founder and 1 angel investor for feedback
๐ Yesterdayโs results
A: Posted 5 articles, so far generating about 942 view - very surprised how many views they are generating!
B: No replies from the email outreach yet.
๐ทโโ๏ธ What are you doing today?
A: Reach out to more potential customers to continue understanding pain points. (Anyone wants to get better at managing their professional networks? Ping me please! ๐)
B: Draft an article on the Why behind markd.co
What's your experience with cross posting to Quora?
I've been testing cross-posting blog posts to Quora Blog (different from answering questions on Quora. You can set up blogs on Quora under your account) and it certainly gets views on Quora. Clicking through to markd.co from the posts are about 2-3% (average imo).
The cool thing is, visitors from Quora has a much lower bounce rate than other sources so far. :)
A well-voted answer on Quora is still a better driver of traffic and views in my opinion compared to posting blog posts on Quora. The nice thing about Quora blog posts however is that they almost always get some views if you add the right topics to them. Answers might not get much visibility, particularly if you compete with a lot of other answers to the same question.
