I have used analytics in my projects before but to be really honest, I don't think they provide you with enough value in the very beginning (except you have a great marketing plan).

To answer your latter question, yes, they are helpful when you are getting a lot of customers, signups etc. when you want to figure out acquisition channels, source of traffic etc.

Analytics are great to see things like:

• Where people are spending lots of time - this is good
• Where people are leaving your site - this might be bad
• How people are finding you - good info

All of which can highlight problems and opportunities for you to optimise for your user's experience. Google Analytics is super powerful and free.

Yea, use “simple analytics” on all my projects, it doesn’t need cookie popup and respects the users privacy.

I need to know where traffic is coming from, if it’s increasing over time. This helps determine where my customers are, which of my affiliates are successful, if I should do SEO marketing or side project marketing, etc.
