Drop your URL and I'll tell you the best way to generate leads for your business

I've been working as a freelance fractional CMO for 30+ SaaS companies. Before that, I have been leading global marketing teams in multiple scale-ups & 2 digital agencies.

In case you want to share the info publicly, it would also help to mention your annual revenue range + project team. This helps me to better suggest a realistic scenario. But no worries if you can't share that, I'll do my best to answer. ;-)

Edit: wow, this thread really exploded. I'll do my best to answer everyone as soon as possible. My apologies if some initial answers are a bit shorter, but I'm happy to follow-up with a more in-depth reply if you require more input/feedback. Just make a follow-up comment with your specific question.

    https://minipoll.co/

A super easy way to create tiny and shareable polls without needing to register for an account.

    1. 2

Could you plz make the logo clickable (linking to homepage). Thanks.

      1. 1

On individual polls? The issue with that is we allow users to add their own logo or image to a poll so linking doesn't always make sense.

    2. 1

You'll need to work on your website & messaging a bit more first before you start doing lead generation. It's currently not clear who your target audience is & what issues your product solves for them. Who did you build the product for? Show some use-cases & examples of how teams could use this.

    1. 1

Linkedin ads campaign targeting content marketers & content marketing managers as job titles

Hi Sven, thanks for doing this. We’re an image versioning tool aimed at artists and those in the creative industries https://gitimage.com

    1. 2

It's a bit difficult to answer this one, because I don't have a view on the pricing and I can't really see how the end result looks like without signing up for the tool.

PS: I think your website needs a bit more work too to make it more compelling. The images on the right are not displaying properly, I think. Focus a bit more on the problem you're solving.

      1. 1

Thanks Sven, those are all excellent points, yes definitely need to give potential customers a better view of what the actual product is/benefits prior to signup.
Thanks for taking the time to view the site :)

    https://chromeextensionideas.substack.com/

It's a newsletter where we share pre-validated chrome extension ideas.

    1. 1

I like the idea and the newsletter is fine, but it would be better to have some voting with a better interface for the website. Can you use Fider (https://getfider.com/) as your back-end?

    2. 1
      • This could do really well on ProducHunt. Maybe even consider a paid campaign if you have the budget.
      • Given the low revenue/paid user you'll probably have to get your signups through organic (free) channels, it won't make sense to set up traditional paid campaigns like Facebook/Linkedin/Twitter since the acquisition cost will be too high.
      • So your best guess would be to keep heavily engaging in communities like IH, HN, PH, etc..
      • You could also exchange exposure in your newsletter with other 'maker' communities that are not direct competitors. Your content could be relevant for their audience & vice versa.
  4. 2

This is my current project: https://geniebot.co/

Main audience are developers, I am planning to start doing cold outreach to lead devs / CTOs in January when people are back from holidays. Starting to do some content marketing now, aside from that not sure what else could work! I would appreciate any insight :)

    1. 3
      • Get listed on https://slack.com/apps for organic inflow of leads (same for Teams & Discord later)

      • Scrape reviews of other other Slack plugins so you know which companies run on Slack. Use that info to build lists for your cold outreach.

      • Engage with users on StackOverflow that are trying to build Slack / Teams / Discord add-ons

      • Create dedicated SEO pages for all possible 'jobs to be done' where you could create bots for. For example 'Out of office in Slack', "Send reminder in Discord". Not the best examples, but you get the idea. Do keyword research first to understand which keyword clusters are a priority. (Zapier is an example -> https://zapier.com/apps/linkedin-lead-gen-forms/integrations, although they could do even better by making dedicated subpages)

      • If you have the budget, you could also run Google Ads on the queries I mentioned above

      1. 1

Thanks a lot! Slack is currently reviewing the app for the directory. I made the bot library specifically for SEO but I think I need to put more work into it. Thanks again for the tips :)

        1. 1

No worries! Remember that for SEO you need dedicated pages per keyword cluster. Just 'mentioning' them on a single page won't really help you. ;-)

    1. 3

      Do:

      • Twitter ads targeted towards users that tweeted about certain developer-specific content (could be programming languages, dev tools, APIs, SDKs, ...)
      • StackOverflow and/or CarbonAds banner campaign if you have the budget for branding next to direct lead gen
      • Search Engine Advertising on brand names of very similar/compatible platforms/tools that are not competitors. Easy way to reach your target audiece. Make sure to have a dedicated landing page for every keyword ad group.
      • Try do do co-marketing with other dev-facing tools/companies/communities (do webinars together, interview each other, share data/insights in written formats).
      • Sponsor micro-influencers with a big following on Youtube, podcasts or even Twitch (there are people who livestream while coding)

      Don't:

      • Search Engine Advertising: there won't be a lot of keywords with buying intent that are specific enough for what you offer.
      • Same reason why SEO won't be a huge growth lever for you: not so many keywords you really want to claim
      • Linkedin ads: will be too expensive to generate qualified buyers for your (relatively low?) monthly license fee.
    2. 2

Wow cool idea!! some feedback: I would replace the hero illustration with the demo which really shows what you app does, or maybe with a screnehot. Also I would try to use a monospaced font for the code, it looks weird!

      1. 1

Thank you, will look into adding a video

  5. 2

    https://www.cadric.com

I don't have trouble with consumer lawyers, but I need help with users -
18 and older US, Android user, has debt and/or has been contacted by a debt collector.

    Examples:

    1. Looking for 18 year olds' who did not manage their first credit cards
    2. 35 year olds (married, not married) with crushing debt
    3. Gets calls at work
    4. No debt, got a new phone number but gets collection calls anyway
    1. 1

Focus on 'pull' advertising where users express their intent, for example:

      • Mobile Google Ads with the app download extension so users can directly install from the Google Play store. Target high-intent debt (collection) related keywords.

      • Google Ads campaign targeting brand names of competitors offering similar services. Or advertise on 'intermediates' that typically help people in debt. I don't know the US specifics enough to give a real-life example, but in most countries, you have government organizations that help people in situations like this. If they search for that, they could be potential users of your app. Make sure to have a dedicated page for each keyword cluster.

In this case don't fall into the trap of push advertising (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, etc..) because it's very difficult to explicitly target people that could be in debt. Your targeting will always be way too broad and you'll waste money. Focus on the first group of users that have an actual immediate need and a problem they want to solve now.

    https://techmap.io/data
My problem with Google Ads is the targeting of potential customers as we are offering a "job posting api" / "job posting data" but Google Ads sends mostly people looking for jobs in that area.

Any ideas how one can build workarounds if the direct keywords do not really help to get traffic?

    1. 1
      • Do some SEO work on 'no-code' related keywords, while it's still realistic to get decent rankings
      • There are a lot of wrap-ups of 'best no-code tools in/for XYZ'. Contact the editors to also include/review Flowabl
      • You could work together with Youtube influencers who review no-code tools
      • This would do quite well on ProductHunt
      1. 1

Thank you @svennemans! I have just tweaked the SEO so great tip there on using 'no-code'

Ill definitely look around for the no-code tool lists. Let me know if you suggest any Youtube influencers.

As for Product Hunt, we definitely want to launch there but I hear its actually hard to do well which has made us hold off on doing it just yet.

    1. 1

I actually worked for a customer with a similar product so I know this business quite well. It's not an easy space to be in. Some SEO work on 'HTML to PDF' would be your best guess. B2C users won't know the term HTML so that should avoid attracting too much 'waste' traffic. If you have the budget, you could also throw in a Google Ads campaign on the same keyword set.

Apart from that: obviously tap into existing audiences on GitHub, StackOverflow, HackerNews, etc..

      • I would try to make the wording on the website even a tiny bit less technical. Don't overestimate the tech-savyness of bar/restaurant owners. Things like '4x dynamic, Upload or redirect' won't mean a thing to them. And they won't pay for something they don't understand. ;-)
      • In this case I would actually suggest something very atypical and suggest moving offline with your marketing. Print 500/1000 flyers (won't cost you more than $50) and distribute them yourself in all local restaurants/pubs, etc.. Owners will notice from each other what solution they are using and make your product expand like an oil stain (classic marketing tactic)
      • If you really want your first 10/20 customers, I would even do the effort yourself of digitizing their menu as proof of concept and showing them the value and how easy it is.
      1. 1

Thanks for the tips @svennemans! 🙏. I agree about being less techy with the lingo.

Also I had the same idea with the last point. Will digitise a few and approach them in person. Thank you.

    www.focuswithdot.com

Web app built for productivity where users can mix curated music in multiple genres, with high quality white noise / ambient sounds.

Also comes with productivity tools like time tracking, achievements / titles, a to do list, pomodoro timer.

I can't seem to get SEO to work properly but have had some success on Reddit, and a major newsletter picked it up. Besides that, I'm looking for some small wins.

Thanks for doing this by the way! Awesome insights on this thread.

  10. 1

This is a project we are doing: https://grafiaslive.com

The app is made for rendering graphics in realtime to any screen, like: live streams, projectors, TVs and it can render the graphics for later use in post for video or banner ads for social media. The target group here is designers and technicians involved in graphics for the event industry.

    1. 1

I'm thinking Account-based-marketing campaigns on Linkedin. Build a list of
agencies who work in/for the event industry and upload that to Linkedin as a custom audience. Add an additional layer or targeting on job titles to segment on the creative specialists within those companies.

Maybe also consider a freemium version where the exported asset contains a watermark?

    1. 1

An excellent case for a strong SEO project. You already do a good job of having 'keyword rich' <title> tags & URLs, but you could improve by adding something like 'stock video' to both. That's the keyword cluster that actually contains the search volume. Also implement the 'video' keyword on the headings of your tag pages.

You could also run a dynamic search ads campaign in Google Ads. This will automatically create specific ads for all detail pages you have on your website. Make sure to set a manual (very low) bid. This should drive high-volume & cheap traffic.

Some product feedback: would be nice if I could scroll through the video while previewing to skip some parts.

      1. 1

Thank you! do you mean to add 'stock video' to the URL? or to the metatitle? or the pages themselves? we'd actually love to connect with you and chat! wdyt?

    Logo maker web: https://InstantLogoDesign.com

We focus on small businesses owners. Thanks!

    1. 1

I would create dedicated SEO pages for specific logos people could be looking for. Some examples:

      • Logo pet store
      • Logo digital agency
      • Logo SaaS company
      • Logo butcher
      • Etc...

This avoids trying to compete on very competitive keywords like 'logo generator' which will be really hard & will take a long time.

      1. 1

        Thanks for the advice. ☺️

Agreed. Targeting on high keyword difficulty is very challenging. It's a long way to boost the rank from above 80 to page 1 or 2.

We just launched the logo categories on the "Logo Ideas" section and created many new pages like https://instantlogodesign.com/logo/pet-shop for pet stores in order to rank higher when people search for pet store logos.

A super easy and convenient way for event organizers to get their events onto people's calendar. Increase attendance, reduce no shows and do it for free :)

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

    1. 2

I would start by making your website a bit more visual. At the moment I have no idea how the product looks like, which will drastically decrease conversion rates.

Given that it's a 100% free product, you can only use organic growth tactics, so probably manual outreach on Linkedin to 'event managers' is your best guess.

And try to build a viral loop into your product, so that everyone that gets exposed to the event also gets exposed to your product.

      1. 1

Great point on adding visuals. Will start with a screenshot of what an event would look like for the guest and also maybe a gif with screenshots of the steps for an event creator.

100% agreed on the viral aspects. That is why when events get added on to people's calendars or when they open the event page they see "banner" messaging like - "Use esyvite.com for sharing your events for free!" Should try to make it stronger though.

The product is free right now to let me test a few things but I do see a potential for $ for a certain type of use cases which I will get into at a later stage.

First work on your website before you think further about lead generation. It's not really learning me anything about what you can offer me today. Nobody will sign up to 'stay tuned' if they don't know what it's about. ;-)

  15. 1

I have been working for like 5 years building lead generation apps, I built a SaaS for a customer that is ding $23k MRR.
So now I finished my own SaaS called https://leadgen.tools and plan to get $10k MRR by 2022 using the same methods and building up inbound guides on the company blog.

What do you think about this industry? Will I be able to build a loophole by creating warm leads of people that want to create warm leads?

    1. 1

If your product works really really well, most SaaS/Tech/Digital companies won't mind paying a lot of money for it. Finding good, warm leads is in a lot of hypergrowth companies the #1 priority.

Don't make the mistake of putting too much of your hopes on 'guides' or 'blog posts'. These typically:

      • Generate much less traffic than you think
      • Are usually top-of-funnel leads that aren't ready to buy

The idea of 'build it and they will come' unfortunately doesn't work. I've seen many entrepreneurs burn energy/money with this idea.

You're probably better off manually reaching out to sales leaders & showing them the value of what your platform can bring to them. (lead samples, etc..).

      1. 1

        Thank you for the feedback.

About the inbound is just the process of documentation about a journey of, "how I get leads using my own tool"

That way it's access to learning material and SaaS.

I will do what you suggested on adding directly decision-makers from companies and try to warm them up with free trial + lead samples.

I just followed you on Twitter and here.

    https://jobs.xccelerate.co/

A job board that gives applicants more power to look and manage jobs in Asia.

    1. 1

SEO should be the main source of traffic/leads for any job board. Work a bit more on the SEO-friendliness of your URL structure & especially <title> tags. Make sure to include the job title, the word 'job', the company & the location in both. You're leaving a lot of untapped potential on the table there currently.

    1. 2

This product would do really well on ProductHunt & maybe Appsumo. Most of your installs will come through the marketplace directly, so make sure to keep optimizing your product listing with better images/copy. ALso trigger your users to leave 5-star reviews. Good to know: the velocity or reviews if more important than the total. They might give more visibility to apps with 25 recent reviews than as similar app with 500 older reviews. So build in a mechanic in your app that incentivizes users to review.

      1. 1

Thanks very much for the tip, Sven!

Yes, this is something I'm definitely considering. I don't want to look spammy and annoy users with review requests, but I somehow need to spice things up because I'm still pretty low in Google's Web Store rankings.

I'm thinking about sending an automated mail at the right moment, such as when the user successfully creates and runs a scraper.

        1. 2

Maybe consider adding an in-app notification instead of an email? Capture the positive momentum in the native environment (no extra click). That way you can follow-up with an email 2-3 days later if they didn't click the initial notification.

          1. 1

            Yeah, this sounds even better!

    https://getlasso.co

We’re an all-in-one WordPress plugin for Affiliate Marketers.

    1. 1

I actually came across your product a few times in the past, so that means you're already doing something right. :-)

Not the answer you might expect, but I would actually try to set up business partnerships with the affiliate platforms themselves (Awin, Tradedoubler, TradeTracker, etc..). They also lose money when their publishers have broken links.

Imagine onboarding a few of these big platforms per year and having them promote your product to their (huge) user bases, that would probably bring more signups than you could ever generate yourself manually.

You might even want to consider a revenue-share model with them so they also get compensated for every customer they bring you.

And if a partnership is not possible at the moment, at least make sure to do as much co-marketing with them as possible. Be at their publishers events, create free content for them to share, etc.. They should be your #1 lead gen channel.

  18. 1

boomerang.link bookmark manager (with bookmark reminders built in)
the idea is to be able to save all your links in one place, finally closing all those open tabs. But also being able to resurface the link back to yourself later when you can better consume the content

    1. 1

First of all, I would tweak the website so that I get a better visual representation of the product. Now it would be unclear for me how it works exactly (web-app, chrome plugin, ?).

Since it seems to be a free product, you'll want to focus on a ProductHunt launch as your best bet. And try to work a bit on your SEO with the focus on 'bookmark manager' as your main keyword.

      1. 1

I totally agree! I need some visuals on the marketing site, and need to add some text that better explains the use of the product.

Eventually will be a paid product, maybe with a free tier. Haven't decided yet.
I have some notes on ideas for content ideas around that keyword and some other ones that should rank pretty quick.

What do you use for your keyword research? I have been using keywords everywhere, which I enjoy. It's cheaper than hrefs, which is nice when I am not making any revenue

        1. 1

I've tried all of them already and usually stick with the free Google Ads keyword explorer & Ahrefs (because I have the subscription anyway).

The Google Ads keyword explorer should get you 80% of what you need for free. In case you want to use ahrefs for more in-depth research, just sign up for a 7-day trial for $7 with a throw-away email. And do the same again a few months later when you need more data. No need to pay 100/month for an ad-hoc research.

          1. 1

Gotcha, Ill check out the google keywords explorer again. I used it a few years ago, but I'm sure it has changed (hopefully for the better)
            Thanks 🙏

Appreciate the generous offer for feedback!

    1. 2

Pretty straightforward answer here: focus on organic app store optimization & paid app store ads. Remember that the velocity of installs has a big impact on your rankings there. It's actually beneficial to have 'install spikes', if you're able to get that working in any way. As an example: you'll get more impact of 2x250 installs in week 1 & 3 than 4x125 installs in 4 consecutive weeks. Of course this is even more true with bigger numbers. Maybe mix it up with some Facebook & Instagram mobile app promotion ads too. They offer pretty decent targeting towards fitness fanatics.

      1. 1

Awesome thank you for the quick response. I didn’t know about the effect of install spikes! In your opinion are the companies that offer install services worthwhile to help accelerate this?

Obviously those are junk users but if install volume plays a role, are they ultimately effective?

    1. 1

I would build lead lists of users that currently use chatbots on their website, since they are probably more open to the idea of whatsapp bots. You can source those on review websites like capterra, G2, etc..

      • I see that you already try to engage with niche communities like PH & GitHub, that's great. Keep doing that for some organic growth.
      • I would also revise your pricing model. Anyone willing to pay $40/month will have way more than 5000 monthly sessions. So either you'll need to decrease the $40/month or add another pricing tier for larger accounts.

It's a Portuguese "deals" website where visitors can find the best promotional products and services on a daily basis.
I've tried influencer marketing a couple of times but wasn't successful.

    1. 2

Influencer marketing could work in a B2C context and if you really have a niche product. You have a broad offering of products, so I don't think influencers are a good choice here.

Since you don't really have a strict target audience and a wide range of 'unrelated' products, I would recommend running Facebook Product Ads -> https://www.facebook.com/business/news/product-ads.

Thanks for the late Christmas 🎁

    1. 2

I would consider porting this to an add-on for Shopify, Wordpress, etc.. Probably not super difficult with the current tech you already have working. That way, you can benefit from more organic growth through their marketplaces.

I think this product would also do great on ProductHunt & even Appsumo (or other lifetime deals platforms).

Google ads will be different because there aren't any real straightforward keywords anyone would be looking for and then expect to end up with your product.

      1. 1

Sounds cool, profiting from website builder marketplaces is smart.

        Thanks again :)

    2. 1

the concept is so cool. i can see the potential. keep up.

I actually gave up on that micro SaaS 😅 thank a lot & happy new year

    https://playeeyay.com/
Connect with people based on their gaming preferences.

    1. 1

The website needs more work before you can actually do lead gen. Work a bit on that first, now it's very unclear what you have to offer, how it looks & how much it costs.

I connect indie hackers to founders who've scaled and exited. Born out of this site :)

    https://sparrowstartup.com/

    1. 1

Depending on your pricing model (and acceptable acquisition cost) Linkedin advertising might actually be a good pick. You can easily target founders of companies with a specific size (and even more specific: companies that are aggressively hiring).

If you don't have the margin to do that, I would try to do some co-marketing with founder communities/podcasts/etc.. Either get interviewed or interview them yourself.

    https://www.wishtender.com

A wishlist for creators to get gifts from fans. We cater to the adult industry. Privacy is important for them. So we protect their personal information, unlike other wishlists.

    1. 2

Your best target audience would probably be OnlyFans creators. Try to find lists of popular accounts on there & try to reach out. Probably you'll have a bigger chance finding their Instagram profile they likely also have. Or through the email listed there for 'partnerships'.

      1. 1

Thanks I hadn't considered looking at their partnership emails. I'm about to launch an affiliate program so now maybe now is the optimal time to reach out to bigger accounts on their partnership emails. Is the partnership email usually listed on their onlyfans profile?

        1. 2

I'm not super familiar with OF (I swear.. ;-) ) but I think they usually refer to their Instagram page for more contact details. Or maybe these typical 'online business card' websites.

  37. 1

    https://meetingspot.us

Permanent meeting URLs for Zoom, MS Teams, Skype etc.

    1. 2

You could run Google ads campaigns with super low manual CPCs on the brand names of those compatible meeting platforms. Create dedicated pages for each platform.

I could also see this type of product work really well for an appsumo campaign.

  38. 1

    https://snapmob.io/
two-sided marketplace for photography and photography customers.

    1. 1

Since it's a mobile app I would stick with mobile-specific promotion. Try running app store advertising campaigns on photography-related keywords or names of other apps professional photographers would download (for example: there are quite a few 'golden hour' apps).

Also: your website messaging needs more work, it's not very clear what you exactly offer.

    1. 1

I would start with improving the website a bit first. It looks great, but it doesn't really show me how the product looks like.

After that, I would run Twitter ads targeting hashtags of all possible programming languages/frameworks.

    https://testkit.app

Super curious to hear as I'm currently working on my strategy!

    1. 1

The good thing here is that you can run straightforward Google Ad campaigns on 'Regression Testing' keywords. Those are specific enough for your target audience. Also consider Twitter ads targeting specific programming languages/frameworks.

my project, creation of websites and virtual stores for entrepreneurs www.itsoftaction.com

    1. 1

The most straightforward thing to do here would be Google ads on generic 'website development', 'website agency' related keywords. Obviously you could use the same pages to rank through SEO too, but that will take you a bit longer and will be harder.

    https://www.aimhighfive.com

Not a business, but a small project I built the past few days. Social wall where people can anonymously share their resolutions for 2022 and inspire others.

    1. 1

Since there's no real revenue model behind it, I would stick with organic growth. Probably product-led growth would be your best option. Try to implement something to incentivize people to share their resolutions on Twitter/Facebook/linkedin, with a link back to your platform. That way you'll get a viral loop.

Just wanted to say, @svennemans don't know if you're still doing this, but thanks regardless. This post is a treasure trove of great content 😀

    https://lnkky.com
The idea is to easily create personalized content, such as personalized thank you messages, surveys, signup confirmation, etc.

    1. 2

Thank you! Still going through all of the comments every few hours, but this thread really exploded, so I have some delay. ;-)

What I'm missing a bit on your website is tangible use-cases. I think it would be great if you could create some use-cases on how for example sales teams could use your product to be more successful in their outbound outreach.

I think it would be nice if you could actually use the product yourself in any outbound activity that you plan on doing, so the prospect immediately gets exposed to it.

Maybe this could also work well as an add-on to Shopify/Wordpress.

      1. 1

Thank you so much for the feedback!
It was really helpful, I'll definitely update the website based on it!

    1. 1

I'm actually not sure you want to drive users away from your homepage to the app store listings. I'm guessing an individual user signup isn't actually what you want? You need a manager to decide on the purchase & company-wide implementation.

Not showing the pricing will be a bottleneck too. HR managers aren't people who are heavy tool-purchasers so they might have no clue if this costs $10/month or $250/month per employee.

Once you made that a bit more crisp, I would use Linkedin Sales Navigator to do manual outreach on Linkedin to HR managers or employee happiness managers of startups (who typically have more tech-savvy employees).

      1. 1

Thanks! We currently have only the demo consumer app, and recently focused on B2B (developing the enterprise features right now) so your feedbacks are definitely correct. We also currently don't have a price because we still didn't release a paid b2b software. Thanks

      • I would assume that freelance copywriters would be a good target audience (more than agencies)

      • In that case I would build a list of prospects from users offering those services on Fiverr, Upwork, etc.. You could do that manually or scrape them.

      • Find their email addresses through hunter.io or manually contact them through Linkedin

      • You could run search ads on the brandnames of some competitors (I see papertrue, for example)

      • In this case Linkedin ads might be a good option since you can easily target (freelance) copywriters or content marketers on job titles.

  54. 1

Interesting idea, curious to know why someone would exchange 1% stake for a 10$ domain? What am I missing?

      1. 1

        Thanks 😊

How much should the percentage be according to you?

        1. 2

Can't say buddy, you're responding to a question with a question :) Just trying to understand the concept. I'm just not sure why 1% is equivalent to domain price which is quite cheap, unless if you're targeting some specific customers, maybe from poorer countries?

From an investor's perspective, the cost of "due diligence" would be higher than the domain price, unless if someone does it blindly.

I am freelance SEO. So I need clients who have business and website.
Anything you want to share for getting leads?

    1. 2

Umm the website (Wordpress??) isn't anywhere close to your SEO/freelance ambition.. is this the correct link?

      1. 1

I know. I want to work on it. It's absolutely correct link.

Please share your feedback on it. How can I improve it.

        1. 2

Guess you need a proper website first? Or try fiverr, upwork etc.

Sorry hard to say "how you can improve" as there is no product to improve right now.

          1. 1

Thanks for adding point of view.

    1. 1

Interesting, could/should this be a wordpress plugin?

      1. 1

Great idea. Why did we never thought of this before!

    1. 2

Very interesting. Could this be integrated into VS Code?

Also, how did you come up with this idea?

      1. 1

Can you explain why you expect it to be integrated into VS Code?

        1. 2

VS Code is where the code is. As a developer, I get to read a lot of code that others have written.
Did I misunderstand something about the product?

Also, how did you come up with this idea?

          1. 1

VS Code is where the is. As a developer, I get to read a lot of code that others have written.<<

Yeah, that is correct. That's why I wrote the Chrome extension to enable developers to understand code anywhere.
But how do you expect to read others' code inside vs code? Do you work with a team? Do you pull code from GH?
Asking out of curiosity. Thank you.

            1. 2

But how do you expect to read others' code inside vs code?
The git/other repos that I work on have multiple collaborators (usually).

Do you work with a team?
              Yes, mostly.

Do you pull code from GH?
              Yes, that's correct.

Also, how did you come up with this idea?

              1. 1

Thank you Swabdev for the response.
Also, how did you come up with this idea?

I came up with this idea from my own frustration. Coding felt like a lonely process when I was learning. I'd come across a piece of code but there won't be anyone to ask what it does. Of course, there is SO, but there are many complications. Sometimes you need a certain threshold point to comment under an answer to ask for doubt. Questions were often flagged as already existing, but those questions were mostly out of scope for a learner. Sometimes you comment under an answer and hope for the best.
So, I thought it would be useful to have a tool like this. Also, I don't want to go to a new site specifically for this. So, I made it as a Chrome extension.

I waffle back and forth with subscription models based on features. Ideally $10-15/mo price point. Considering making a tier for owners at a higher price point.

    2. 1

Interesting. How did you find 100 users?

      1. 1

Paid ads mostly. Some Instagram luck.

Have you considered a model like designjoy.co? It's trending quite a bit these days.

      1. 1

I love DesignJoy's productized concept, our problem is that we do everything to measure, 100% custom from the first line of code, so the budgets we manage are also made to measure and we do not work with a fixed fee.

However, it is something that I can evaluate if organic growth improves.

I'm working on https://wrap.so/, a browser extension for capturing and editing product screenshots.

I launched the project 6 weeks ago, and currently doing €350 MRR. Would love to hear any thoughts you may have.

    1. 1

Umm, how is it different from "cmd+shift+4" on mac? Cool site design btw

      1. 1

Hey! The difference is Wrap is used for capturing and editing screenshots, whereas cmd+shift+4 is just used for capturing. The main functionality of Wrap is the editor itself.

        1. 1

          Gotcha, interesting, thanks.
Just to close on it - when you capture the image with cmd+shift+4, and click on the thumbnail that's generated (bottom right of screen), it opens up a mini editor (mac only I think).

          1. 1

            For sure, thanks for clarifying!

Wrap is a little more like a presentation editor for sharing social images. Something like this.

            1. 1

Thanks, the video helps a lot. You might want to embed it.

    1. 2
      • I would set up an affiliate marketing platform and reach out to influential designers across the globe and have them promote your product in exchange for a share of the revenue they generate
      • You could reach out manually to some micro-influencers in the community and give them free access themselves in exchange for exposure in their newsletter/social channels/youtube channel/blog/etc..
      1. 1

Thanks for the suggestions Sven. Been thinking about this reaching out to influencers, will have to give this a try.

        1. 2

If you start the affiliate program you can do the same, but performance based. They make money when you do. It's less risk than paying someone 1-10K and hope for the best. ;-)
