Feedback needed: What can I do better?

I have a landing page for a set of guided deep sleep meditations but it is not converting.

I am definitely doing something wrong here but don't know what. Any tips, questions, thoughts or other kinds of feedback are highly welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks.

A few questions that I think are helpful to answer, which would help others to assist you:

    • How much traffic are you driving to it on a daily basis?
    • What channels are you trying to get traffic from?
    • Are the people you consider your buyers, hanging out on those channels at the time they're thinking about a product like yours?

If you can answer those questions and are able to get 100+ people to your site, it starts getting easier to diagnose conversion issues.

    Now onto the landing page:

    • There is a lot of text on it, and the design doesn't immediately build trust with me. So I don't know that I would feel confident putting in my credit card.
    • You might consider setting up a "tripwire" or "micro-commitment" before asking someone to buy your product. For example, it is lower barrier to entry to get someone to sign up for a newsletter first, where you provide them weekly tips for better sleep. In each weekly email, you can advertise purchasing your product, and with each email that your reader finds useful, buying your product becomes more of a no-brainer.
    • I'd consider getting a designer or someone to help you modernize the look of your site to more quickly build trust with the visitors.

That said, there's no silver bullet--so I think patience, persistence and discipline is the key!

      Thanks for your feedback.

While answering your questions, I noticed I have some homework to do and need to run some ad tests with the latest page version. Anyways, put them up here so others can benefit from it too.

How much traffic are you driving to it on a daily basis?

Launched in early December and got 100+ hits since then on the page. But that does not seem to be accurate as I have often more ad clicks than page views (ad blockers or other glitches). Maybe it's a numbers game but the ad test still should have converted better than zero.

The videos got more on YouTube.

What channels are you trying to get traffic from?

YouTube video (+ YT Ad), Pinterest organic and ad, SEO (hence I added more text on the page than it had before), ad on another site of mine, even posted on PH.

Ads were basically the cover image and people click on it, so they know what it is about.

Are the people you consider your buyers, hanging out on those channels at the time they're thinking about a product like yours?

The people on YT are actively looking for that, which might make them watch the video but thinking about it now, it might be the wrong time for making a purchase. People want sleep not shopping.

On Pinterest, I was targetting sleep and meditation keywords and people came mainly via a broad meditation keyword. However, I do not see at which time of the day, at least they were interested enough in the cover to click on it but then left shortly the sales page.

The rest came from an ambient sound generator I own and use it for work or relaxation.

There is a lot of text on it, and the design doesn't immediately build trust with me.

Why? What disturbs you or breaks the trust?

        This is definitely good detail!

I'll answer your last question here--I don't know that it particularly disturbs me, nor breaks trust. It just doesn't build trust that this product would work largely because it doesn't leave me with a polished first impression.

I am sorry and hope I'm not being too harsh--because I really don't mean to be, but want to be helpful here--but the landing page looks like it was designed like a Microsoft Word document, rather than a website. I am not a designer nor am I good at designing webpages, so I've found it helpful to look at other websites I like and model my designs after them--and then asking for help from a designer to just give it a quick look.

To give you context for how important the design and look of the website is for converting at a higher level, I have a friend who is managing Airbnbs. He was looking for a tool to manage his listings, and found https://www.lodgify.com/. He signed up, and has been paying $60/month without really thinking much about it because the design of that page made him believe that the product was also well designed and would work well. It is an interesting case study, because after using it for a few months, he said that the product did not deliver on its promises--and he is really trying to get a refund. But what I took away from this is how important the design is for that decision to buy.

I'd say, here are some things that you can do--and I'd suggest doing it before paying for another ad campaign:

        1. Look up websites that you like the designs of, and try and replicate them (particularly ones that are selling audiobooks).
        2. Sign up for one of the most popular templates on Squarespace or some website builder, because those templates are likely tried and tested.
        3. If you have the money for it, hire a designer to create a nicer layout, design, and font choice.

        Hope this helps!

Also, about a year ago, I signed up for this free course on Design that I really liked: https://www.designacademy.io/

It's a 6-lesson, email-based course (quick 15 minute read each day) sent with a follow-up "homework assignment" to apply the lesson in the email to your own project. I found it to be a great primer in design.

There're few things that come to mind, Jens.

    1. The top image isn't pixel perfect, which cultivates the sense of distrust. Make sure to show a proper resolution to enable convenience for people to proceed to the next step.
    2. I'd move the section of "Importance of Sleeping Peacefully" to the topmost, then followed by "Guided Meditations and Deep Sleep" section.
    3. Afterwards, I'd show the "2 Full-Length Samples" videos, so people could know directly whether or not they get enough value from your product.
    4. Lastly, sell them your product and whatever CTA that you want to show.
    5. I personally think you don't need to show the section "What is sleep?...", because everyone would already know it.

The idea is to show the benefits of your product to the potential customers before anything else. People don't have much time, and if they're not sure whether or not the thing that you offer brings some value to them, they would just go away.

    Hope that helps! 🙏🏻

      Thanks for your feedback.

Fixed the image display and also integrated your other tips.

Yeah. I even made the experience a couple of times that they aren't reading product descriptions at all now (even short ones on Amazon). Instead, they just buy and return or complain. Still trying to figure out how to deal with that. What's your approach?

      1. 1

Regarding the type of customers that you are dealing right now, I would encourage you to increase your price to deal with some types of customers that really need your product. Not the arbitrary ones that don't really care about your product.

The textual content on your landing page is good but it doesn't engage the user to read it. Try using adding another color to your landing page color palette. All black text is making it feel a bit monotonous.
Add Human illustrations to explain your pointers, there are a lot of free human illustrations available. Check https://www.indiehackers.com/article/15-sweet-websites-for-awesome-free-artwork-08046eb25c if you want something custom you can try illustrationss.com (shameless self-promotion)
Is it possible to add photographs of real people that have given you the testimonial? It would increase the trust amongst the website visitors. Lookup for some inspiration on landing pages done for meditation-related products and services.
Add HotJar, and see what content is your website visitors most interested in and then spice up and extend that content to close customers.

      Thank you for your feedback.

I broked that wall of text a bit up now, so it shouldn't feel monotonous anymore.

I am not sure about the images. Checked some guided meditation sellers before and most of them just had a small cover, audio sample (if at all) and almost no text. A few went with a different approach and used heavily nature images but again almost no text.

But's hard to tell from the outside who's more successful :-)

But when my new version does not work out, it will be my next test.

Is it possible to add photographs of real people that have given you the testimonial?

      Nope
