Finding a Business to Invest in

You can probably learn a lot from Jason Calacanis - a polarizing angel investor in SV. I really enjoy his YouTube, and his book.

I have a business idea you might want to invest in. It's just that our location differs.

Couple of options

1. If you have access to dealflow then you can do angel investing by finding/researching companies yourself.

or

in my early day, i thought investing is easy. it's a full-time job:

• 70% is about networking, getting your brand out and invest with right people; why => the best investments happen when you invest with good people; 2nd why: you need to get into the best deals, hence you need a good personal brand; you don't have enough cash for spray and pray on some random deals you find on producthunt or angellist
• then you need get heavily into content marketing of yourself (blogs, videos, interviews, social media)
• once in, you don't need to actively manage your portfolio companies BUT you have to manage your shareholding very actively means in some rounds holding/defending/improving your positions when VCs come in and try to dilute the f*ck out of you and get themselves super shares while you stick with loser shares and so on; doesnt happen every day but when it happens you are booked out 24/7 for some weeks

you will learn a lot but you will lose money as a half-baken one-man-show. find some friends, put your money together, raise extra cap, get some investment managers
