If I got a dollar every time someone told me the name of my product is bad, I could buy a yacht. No, not a yacht, but my bank balance would definitely be more than 100$ higher.
I've been building my product, a combination of RSS feed reader, newsletter reader, and read-it-later app, for about a year now. For most of that time, it had terrible names. Yes, names, plural.
I always had a hard time naming the products I work on. But now I think I've finally overcome it.
There are many different types of names. And as with everything else, also naming methods have trends. As a solo founder I recommend to not overly focus on it though.
As solo founder, with your product's name, it's important that you can identify with it. If you truly like the name, usually others will like it too.
Even without focusing on trends, having an overview of what types of names there are helped. The Startup Naming Handbook has an extensive list. Using the list I identified the kinds of names I like. The ones that use an existing word, where the concept and meaning of it relates to the product.
Knowing the type of names I'm interested in helps with crafting prompts.
Pro tip: you can also use ChatGPT to create prompts for ChatGPT. It makes them more descriptive than I ever could, and then I just need to adapt it where ChatGPT got it wrong.
With the prompt I crafted then, the first result was the name I chose, and love.

There are many ways to get to a good product name. Some people find them intuitively. If you're one of them, I envy you. But if not, referring to The Startup Naming Handbook and using ChatGPT can be a good starting point.
