Generate sales through cold B2B emails - is it real?

A lot of people say that email marketing is super important. But, in my experience, сold emails provide absolutely no value. We sent cold emails when we started Insquad (b2b startup, we match remote developers with US companies). The open rate was about 15%, no leads at all. Now we use a combo of LinkedIn outreach + cold calls + emails. And that’s much much more efficient.

Just wondering, do you guys have successful cold mailing cases? It would be cool to know the secret of cold email outreach🤔

When it comes to cold email, it needs to be high volume of output. Thousands of emails per day, the copywriting and subject line is very important. I had 70% open rate for cold emails

I wrote a post w/ my lessons learned/process I use to get consistently entice 15-25% response rates. Maybe you'll find it helpful.

From my experience it can be extremely effective. It's not extremely scalable without hands on keyboards though. If you're looking for an "easy button" cold email isn't your answer.

At the start of this year I sent out a few thousand cold emails and got one or two sales from them. It wasn't very effective for me, and I got myself banned from Gmail for overdoing it.

I've had success with sending emails to my existing users asking them for feedback. Often they reply with bug reports or questions, a lot of those who reply have ended up purchasing.

Same with Gmail. Great point about feedback, thank you

In my experience of B2B cold emailing it should be done with a lot of effort put into it, so you should understand whether it is relevant for a certain project. You can check out inbound sales topic on LaGrowthMachine as it is most fully covers this issue in my opinion.

Sales representatives often use cold emailing as a way to introduce their product or service to a potential customer. While this strategy can be effective, it's important to make sure that your emails are well-written and professional in order to avoid coming across as spammy or uninterested. In order to cold email potential customers effectively, follow these tips:

    • Do your research: make sure you know who you're emailing and what their needs are before you reach out.
    • Keep it brief: your email should be direct and to the point.
    • Be personal: address the recipient by name and include a personalized message.
    • Offer value: explain why your product or service would be beneficial to the recipient.
Hope this helps you out :)

Cold emailing is one of the best ways to generate sales @decaster3. It's a very complex process with many moving parts, such as subject line length and outreach number. However, the most important part of all is the list of prospects. If you choose your prospects wisely, cold emailing can be incredibly effective. If you choose your prospects poorly, cold emailing won't work well at all.

I recent ran a cold outreach campaign to over 800 leads for ruttl, just to see if this method works. However, I got around 2% response rate. This goes along with the fact that I'm a beginner to this myself, so there's a lot of work I need to do to optimize my mailers.

If you wan to learn more about the secrets, maybe try checking out leadfeeder's blogs. They are filled with great tips to improve your cold emailing. I'm referring to them myself.

I get dozens of cold emails a day, like many. I probably see one good cold email every 2-3 months.

15% open rate is very low - that tells me that:

    1. Your messaging is off
    2. The email copy if off
    3. Your deliverability is bad and/or your list is bad

You should be aiming to hit 60% open rates, and 8-10% reply rates.

If you're going for a non-personalized approach, and have your messaging and deliverability in check - 800-1k cold emails per month should be more than enough.

My business partner swears by cold emails (but not exactly freezing cold and not an email per se). He has sent Calendar Invites for the last 30 years to have direct conversations with prospects. It works best for higher ticket items, because it is time intensive.

    His process ...

    1. find someone he thinks could (a) benefit and (b) be interesting to meet regardless if a deal is made or not.
    2. Do some preliminary research about them
    3. Find their email address (obvious)
    4. Create a calendar invitation from his own calendar - with date, time and message attached
    5. Send

He had gotten anything from Zero response, to "can't make it, can we do another time", to the recipient sending a "suggested time", to an RSVP yes.

It was a normal sales practice for him, and would send anywhere from 10 to 25 a week - just to keep the pipeline full.

As an aside, that's the basic idea of Calendar Snack and our platform 31Events. Simply put - get it on the calendar first.

Perhaps if you shared the email subject/template/source of leads then we would be able to help you out a bit more. I'm honestly just curious what a cold email looks like fro this kind of service.

The secret with cold email is that you have to personalize it. Not just as "Hi [name]" , but write a totally different email for each person based on what they need.

Stalk their newsfeed, try their app, see if there is anywhere you can provide value or engage with them. People don't like being spammed

Hello, I can share my experience. We have a also a b2b platform and I can confirm the same results with cold email marketing. We now are trying a new strategy: sending 2 emails (first cold email, after no response a 2nd email) and then cold calling the prospect. But the best (free) results we had sofar was with linkedin outreach and then sheduling a call.
    I hope it helped!

Absolutely. But not email marketing — outbound SDRs. The key is:
-Target companies who are actually a good fit
    -PERSONALIZATION

I saw the CMO of LastPass shared this example of an awesome SDR email on LinkedIn — great example of how personalization can get you that meeting. Link to the post below
