How Hackathons became a Growth Hack for our Startup? 🚀
Did you know that hackathons can help your startup grow? And I'm not talking about just sponsoring one, but conducting your own hackathon. 🧐
You might be thinking, "Aren't hackathons for big enterprises with deep pockets?" I had the same notion once. In fact, I proposed hackathons at my previous startup job, only to have it rejected due to these biases. 🤦
But when I started UXHack, I had the urge to validate my hypothesis.
Initially, we were a platform for UX feedback from pros & aspirants. To grow, I needed:
1️⃣ Users to give feedback
2️⃣ Startups to post problems
But my challenges?
👛 Tiny budget
🚫 No coding problem
I couldn't just call it a "Hackathon." It would send the wrong signals. Here's what I did:
The first hackathon gave us 200+ users and engagement with 5 startups. We did around 7-8 hackathons, gaining 1k+ users in a couple of years.
