How I built a zero-friction tool to solve the "hidden caption" problem for creators

Hey everyone! I’m finally launching OverlayCheck.

The Problem: I noticed creators spend hours on a video, only for their key captions or call-to-actions to be buried under TikTok’s "Like" button or the Reels "User Profile" icon.

The Gap: Most "safe zone" tools are just static, outdated PNG templates you have to manually drag into an editor. They don't account for the fact that social apps update their UI constantly.

The Solution: I built OverlayCheck.com to be a 5-second "sanity check." It’s a minimalist web app where you instantly preview your video frame across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts in one place.

Why I’m building this: Short-form video is now the dominant content format, and search interest for overlays is spiking. I wanted to replace clunky manual templates with a modern, interactive tool that gives creators 100% confidence before they hit publish.
