OverlayCheck
Free TikTok, Reels & Shorts Safe Zone Tool
Hey everyone! 👋
A few weeks ago, I shared OverlayCheck.com—a tool to check if TikTok/Reels UI blocks your content.
The #1 request I got was: "This is great for screenshots, but I need to check my actual DETAILS video files."
The Problem: Hosting user videos is expensive (bandwidth/storage) and risky (privacy/content moderation). As a bootstrapper, I didn't want a massive AWS bill just to let people preview an overlay.
The Update: Today I'm pushing a major update: Video Support that runs 100% in the browser.
I built a custom video player that interacts with the overlays in real-time.
🚫 No Server Uploads: The video file never leaves your device. It creates a local blob URL for instant preview.
🔒 Privacy First: Because it's client-side, your unreleased content stays private.
⚡ Zero Latency: No "processing..." bars. It plays instantly.
I'd love for you to try it out with a 9:16 video and let me know if the playback feels native!
Hey everyone! I’m finally launching OverlayCheck.
The Problem: I noticed creators spend hours on a video, only for their key captions or call-to-actions to be buried under TikTok’s "Like" button or the Reels "User Profile" icon.
The Gap: Most "safe zone" tools are just static, outdated PNG templates you have to manually drag into an editor. They don't account for the fact that social apps update their UI constantly.
The Solution: I built OverlayCheck.com to be a 5-second "sanity check." It’s a minimalist web app where you instantly preview your video frame across TikTok, Reels, and Shorts in one place.
Why I’m building this: Short-form video is now the dominant content format, and search interest for overlays is spiking. I wanted to replace clunky manual templates with a modern, interactive tool that gives creators 100% confidence before they hit publish.
I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think!

OverlayCheck solves a massive creator pain point: vital content getting buried by social media UI buttons. I built it to provide an instant, interactive preview so creators can publish with 100% confidence.
