How I Made $885 in 4 Weeks.

I randomly tweeted this story today. And I thought IH would appreciate the story as well.

Here it goes.

The Origin

Saturday night. Oct 2019.

I was sitting in my dorm room. And I was broke.

I was also tired of relying on others for work. I wanted to capture all the upside of my efforts.

I knew how to get attention on Reddit. And I knew businesses always need promotion.

So I went with that.

The Process

I set up a landing page using Landen.co.

I added some examples of viral Reddit posts I did in the past.

I created a “productized service.”

Then I hunted it on Product Hunt myself.

The Launch

A dismal launch day. Only 12 upvotes.

But, that weekend, 2 businesses found me that needed just what I could provide.

My standard plan was $199. So, I made $400 in a weekend.

At the time, that’s the most I’d ever made by myself.

I finally had money for groceries lol.

Operating The Business

Parts of the product process were tedious. So I hired 2 friends via Instagram.

Then I designed the process for how we fulfill orders.

Looking back I realize, “Whoa, did I just become a business operator?”

Money Was Made

Long story short.

3 weeks followed and a few more customers came.

$885 in 4 weeks.

Lessons Were Learned

I stopped the business in December for a few reasons:

• Service businesses are a pain in the a** to run
• My newsletter was gaining traction (2000+ subs in 1 day)
• I didn't want to sell my time for $ anymore.

✨ But I did learn some valuable lessons:

1. Just start —experience is the only teacher.
2. Focus on a simple problem. (I focused on good business promotion on Reddit)
3. You don't need a flashy launch to make $
4. If you want to make $ fast, start a services business
5. Make sure you set up a solid process for fulfilling orders before you hire anyone. You essentially want to outsource parts of yourself. You want to be able to confidently hand off that part of your business to your employee.

But yea, that's my lil story.
