How I sold a chrome extension for $1000

Looking at Ben Awad create VS code Stories extension, I thought of creating a similar for browsers, so I built Browser Stories (https://stories.zubs.xyz)

Days after building, I launched it on Product Hunt, got some users signed up and website visits.
After almost 6 months of launch, I had 100+ users signed up and over 1.3k+ all time website visits, I decided to sell it and listed it on Side Projectors, the next day I got a buy offer for $1000 and I sold it!

It was my first ever product that I've launched as an Indie Hacker, excited to build more products in 2022!

    Congratulations
I also sold around 15 Chrome Extensions so far in 2026.

Congrats. I have never sold any small side projects, so, I am just curious, did you inform your users before selling it ? I have seen a few incidences where people are buying extensions to add spyware, AdWare, crypto mining code etc

Thanks man, but I haven't done that but will keep this in mind.

This is a super interesting chrome extension - how long did it take you to make it? and How did you learn to make the extension? I've been looking to get into Chrome extensions, but haven't found good resources for learning it. Any materials in particular you found helpful?

Thanks man, it took me around a month to build it including planning and designing. Check out their official docs, they are more than enough https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/ also chrome extension is just a website with some built in chrome APIs, it's no big deal.
