How I sold a chrome extension for $1000

Looking at Ben Awad create VS code Stories extension, I thought of creating a similar for browsers, so I built Browser Stories (https://stories.zubs.xyz)

Days after building, I launched it on Product Hunt, got some users signed up and website visits.
After almost 6 months of launch, I had 100+ users signed up and over 1.3k+ all time website visits, I decided to sell it and listed it on Side Projectors, the next day I got a buy offer for $1000 and I sold it!

It was my first ever product that I've launched as an Indie Hacker, excited to build more products in 2022!

    Congratulations
I also sold around 15 Chrome Extensions so far in 2026.

      Hey Adil,

Saw your comment on Indie Hackers mentioning you've sold around 15 Chrome extensions this year — that's serious volume, curious how you've built that pipeline.

I broker Chrome extension deals on the sourcing/buyer side and currently have a couple of qualified, verified listings on my plate:

      1. AI/chat productivity extension — 400+ users, 4.7+ rating, $250–350/month organic revenue, Manifest V3. Asking ~$4K.
      2. Creator-tools extension in a trending niche — 1,300+ users, 4.9 rating, free/unmonetized. Asking ~$500.

Given how active you are in this space, wondering if you (or your network) might be interested in either — or if you're someone who also acquires/flips extensions rather than just building and selling your own. Happy to share full details.

      Best,
      Jose

        Hi,
The installations are not very impressive.

Still, can you send me the link to both of the extensions here adilbalti14@gmail

          Hey Adil,

Appreciate the interest! Fair point on the install count — the real value here is more in the Manifest V3 compliance, the automated payment/licensing infra already in place, and the clean organic growth trend (especially on the creator-tools one) than raw install numbers alone.

Before I send over the direct links and seller contact, I work on a paid-intro basis — $150 per qualified lead, and it's refundable if the seller doesn't respond within 48 hours. Given the volume you're doing, happy to also talk about a better rate if this turns into a recurring thing.

Let me know if that works and I'll get you both listings right away.

          Best,
          Jose

Congrats. I have never sold any small side projects, so, I am just curious, did you inform your users before selling it ? I have seen a few incidences where people are buying extensions to add spyware, AdWare, crypto mining code etc

Thanks man, but I haven't done that but will keep this in mind.

This is a super interesting chrome extension - how long did it take you to make it? and How did you learn to make the extension? I've been looking to get into Chrome extensions, but haven't found good resources for learning it. Any materials in particular you found helpful?

Thanks man, it took me around a month to build it including planning and designing. Check out their official docs, they are more than enough https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/ also chrome extension is just a website with some built in chrome APIs, it's no big deal.
