How I'd get my first 10 customers starting from zero today

Most "get your first customers" advice is some version of: post on Twitter, do things that don't scale, DM people.

Useless. Everyone knows the what. Nobody hands you the where and the how.

So here's the exact process I'd run if I woke up tomorrow with zero audience and zero budget. It's what I actually do — you can copy every step by hand, no tools required.

1. Write down the sentences your buyer types when they're stuck.

Not keywords. Full sentences. "i've been manually pulling leads all weekend and i'm losing my mind." The words they'd use with a friend, not the words a marketer uses. You probably typed a few of these yourself before you built the thing.

2. Go where those sentences get typed in public.

Subreddits, X, LinkedIn, YouTube comments under your competitors' videos. Paste a phrase into search. You're not hunting for an audience — you're hunting for one person, today, describing your problem out loud.

3. Reply as a peer. No link. No pitch.

Answer the actual question. Tell them what worked for you. That's the whole message. If your first reply has a link in it, you've already lost — across my channels, replies run 20.6% on Reddit, ~14% on LinkedIn, ~9% on X, and the pitch-first ones are the ones that die.

4. Let them ask what you do.

A real conversation often ends with "wait, what are you building?" That's the opening — earned, not forced. That's the only place the link belongs.

5. Write down what worked, then repeat the winner.

Which sentence, which channel, which reply turned into a real back-and-forth. Do more of that one. Kill the rest.

That's it. Ten customers isn't a funnel or a list — it's ten good conversations with people who already raised their hand.
