How Indie Hackers (unintentionally) helped fund my next "big" project. I am grateful 🙏
Just less than a week ago, I announced my little AI project that got massive engagement and my decision to monetise it by selling the code for just $5 on Gumroad. It seemed like an awfully low price for an idea of great potential, and that may be correct. But the truth is, I had the intention of using the revenue to bring my other ambitious dwindling AI side project to fruition, although I didn't make any mention of my intentions.
After the announcement, a lot of indie hackers checked out my project (3.8K) and a tremendous number bought my $5 dollar project. Some didn't even need the code, they just wanted to "give me the $5" 🥺.
And now, I think I can move at full speed with my next project, thanks to you all. It means a lot 🙌.
So about the project; While I can't fully disclose anything now, I am really ambitious about it and I will be sure to keep you all posted when I reach a meaningful milestone.
With the new fund (😅I said "fund"), I intend to invest in development by purchasing premium cloud services that would have ordinarily left me bankrupt, as well as supporting early adopters on the platform at launch (perhaps footing the early bills of OpenAI). It's not enough to quit my full-time job yet though.
The product is still up on Gumroad in case anyone wants to check it out, and It will also be great if those $5 sales emails keep coming in😊.
Anyway, I am off to build something cool and will hopefully return with some interesting news.
