Hi guys ! what's up !
so recently some non technical friends and what not reach out to me about an idea for a startup ( SaaS / product ). that they think about , and want me to be the CTO.
so the product it self not heavily based on technology so it won't need a genius to build them.
In your opinion how much equity would you ask/accept to be a part off the start-up?
What may look initially like "not heavily based on technology" might turn out to require a lot of technical complexity.
And apparently your non technical friends believe it is too technical for them.
I would not feel comfortable working alone on a product and let the co-founders only do sales/marketing/whatever. But perhaps that is not the case here and is it really a not so technical product.
i don't know much about sales , marketing , etc... , same thing i won't feel comfortable leave all that behind i would like to be informed and that would be the case. yes its a food product.
Software as a service is as much technical startup as you can get, No?
i would say same as other co-founders if you are a co-founder. if you are hired and they pay you a salary then 1-2% would be good enough probably.
yes and no , in this partial satiation you could conceder it a subscription software nothing else the product we selling isn't the software it self its the physical product.
so to clarify it's not saas at all it's just subscription platform like manscaped.com or curiositybox.com
that changes some things but i would still say that either you are a co-founder and getting same shares as other co-founders or you are hired and you are getting 1-2% of a company + salary
i can be wrong but i don't believe in half-assed co-founders meaning co-founders that are less of a co-founders then other co-founders and are getting less shares then other co-founders
either you are co-founder or employee
where co-founders get same equity
and employees can get around 0-2% + salary
