I was weeks from quitting. I had spent months building a product I thought was amazing.
The problem?
No one cared. No signups. No interest. Nothing.
I was frustrated and exhausted. Then a friend gave me simple advice: stop building and start listening.
So I reached out to 5 real users who fit my target audience. I asked them about their biggest pain points.
Their feedback completely changed my perspective. I realized I had been solving problems that didn't exist.
They told me exactly what they needed, and it was way simpler than what I had built.
I stripped my product down to focus on solving their main pain point. It wasn't fancy. It wasn't perfect. But it worked.
Within weeks, I started gaining traction. Real users. Real feedback. Real progress.
This experience taught me one critical lesson: building without listening is guessing.
If you are stuck right now, stop coding and start talking to your users. That one conversation might be exactly what saves your startup.

The tough part is finding 5 valid users - its a good test as to whether you'll be able to market it - if you can't find 5 people who'll speak to you, it'll be hard to find 5 people who will pay you!
Exactly. Finding those first 5 real users is the real validation test. If I struggle to find even a handful of people willing to talk, that’s usually a sign the market isn’t as hungry as I assumed.
Yep, the problem validation part is undeniably the most important part!
Totally agree. I learned the hard way that building without talking to users is just guessing. One honest conversation with the right user saved me weeks of building the wrong things.
No doubt, @Prathamnaik!
Thats really great. Even bigger companies many times never listen to their users but mind just solving their own made-up problems. They take a long time and lot of meetings to understand the real problems faced by their users.
You are definitely in the right path.
