How to find a niche (+ tool to help you with it)

One observation that I've made is that a lot of businesses are essentially the cross product of problem/feature/tool/solution and target audience.

For instance;
Problem/Solutions:

  • CRM
  • Forms
  • Apps

Target audience:

  • Real estate managers
  • Dog day-care owners
  • Dentists

Would create 9 possible ideas:

  • CRM for real-estate managers
  • CRM for dog day care owners
  • CRM for dentists
  • Forms for real-estate managers
  • Forms for dog-day-care owners
  • Forms for dentists
  • Apps for real-estate managers
  • Apps for dog day-care owners
  • Apps for dentists

In this way, you can generate a huge list of potential ideas through which you can provide value. Of course, you still need to validate that the idea makes sense by talking to your audience to see what their actual problems are.

I threw together this sheet that does exactly that:

Tool

Let me know if you found it useful. And give me a shout out on Twitter! 😅

Validation for market need is the hardest part:-)

Hey Poyan! I think the second part of your post is more helpful, although the observation itself is quite useful, and I think it's the foundation for micro saas, I'm actually working on a newsletter which also tells you which niche to pick, why and what are the risks involve. If you're interested in a free copy of the newsletter, shoot me a quick email at guptaujjwal.official@gmail.com.
