How to improve SEO for a new site

What works for my side projects kind of:

• Install Google Search Console - look for longer keywords in there like questions or so that you could rank for easily
• Use ahrefs.com - you can sign up for free and run a technical check once per week, really insightful
• Write content that people are interested in. An idea: Write content about templates your tool could generate. Ideally that people can copy-paste. I wrote an article an article recently 3 hackathon announcement email templates that has received some clicks already via Google. If you want we can collaborate with guest articles (you can write on my blog and link back to your tool; i will write a blog on your page and link back to my project; feel free to contact me via my profile here - Twitter or email). Look around for opportunities for other tools where templates could be written for. I am sure you can find many on Indiehackers actually.
• Did you figure out who could be your customer and is paying for such AI writing tools? Make sure to provide them examples in blogs again

• Work on a content distribution plan like where to share articles, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Groups, Facebook groups, ... Post content everywhere

I think you shouldn’t seek SEO at the start, because SEO takes time to build.

Launch on platforms like Product Hunt, IndieHackers, Hackernews, and Twitter and get your first set of users from there.

For SEO, @kevinpeters_ has given a good list.

Regular content on your website will be the best starting point to build SEO.

You can then approach other bloggers for guest posts and reviews on your product and that will create more backlinks.

SEO is the long game. It takes time...required keyword research, content writing, backlinks, etc.

One "easy win" is just making sure the technical SEO is in place. Things like meta tags, ensuring the page is properly structured, alt tags, etc.

I started RubyOnRailsJobs 3 months ago and started straight away SEO optimization... I chose a bad name as a brand but quite good for SEO.
The only work I did was to respect HTML conventions, add meta title and description, and create a sitemap.

Hey @PassionDev few quick tips as SEO is a huge field, so if you have only few min to learn SEO I'll focus on 2 things maybe 3:

1. Your website "On-Page SEO" (basicly as mentioned on @tridev comment) making sure your site is just properly structured and that google can actually "read it"
   Quick tip, search in google site:writableai.com --> this will show u all the pages google "read" and indexed from ur site.

2. Content, you have built an "AI Writing Tool" right? --> why not use it to write (and maybe edit? and publish on your blog, one of the best SEO articles I have ever read re content generation for SEO is this:

IF you have time, and interested to invest doing proper SEO (even without links/minimal amount of links) this thread is a must.

3. Links. Looks like you have built an amazing tool that can generate "free" content, this is an amazing benefit to anyone managing a blog / doing SEO, I think that with the right "hacking" / outreach, you will be able to generate an amazing amount of links to your tool.

Search results are tailored for individuals now so you may be in the top 10 for some people but not you. Best tool is the free Google Search Console to see where you are at. It is all you need. Plus put out useful content. Don’t be too hung up on keywords. Be hung up on helping humans. People don’t search for keywords except for super competitive stuff. People will mostly use long tail weird ass phrases and you can catch those more easily.

This is really funny because most people seem to use AI writing tools to create content, to build links and jump up the rankings. So maybe... you should use your own tool to do that?

You'll need to work on your links, domain authority etc. to outrank other sites with similar content.

Following experiences I've had, I think you should improve domain authority (DA), domain rating (DR) and backlinks (very important).

These data let google and platforms know if your page is more or less notable, and backlinks help a lot to rank in google.

You can buy all this on platforms like Fiverr, and it is usually around $50 each service, depending on what you want to spend and the quality of the backlinks.

You can also get this only with a lot of work and time, but if you want to rank the best is to buy backlinks.
